Very nice campground where nearly every site is creek-side. Lots of tree cover to help stay cool in the summer. Excellent downhill road biking, and the resort town of Hot Springs is a pleasant 30-minute drive through the mountains and along a creek and then a river. The only down side is that the place is not an undiscovered gem, so it’s hard to get a site on the weekends and you will have neighbors—hopefully ones that respect space/quiet. Your best bet is to set up camp on a Wednesday or Thursday before the weekend rush hits; you might get one of the better spots that way.
One of our favorite places to fish and cool off around area. Great place for cookouts.
I have been going to Paint creek Campground for several years , the camp host is a volunteer position but This camp host ( Bill ) made my childerns trip one they will never forget . Super clean ,quite and very little traffic . Great loop for Childern for all ages to bike around camp . No Alcohol allowed which makes for a great family camp .
We went up to have an old-fashioned afternoon splashing at the creek. The drive up for us was a little long, but since it goes through the National Forest, it was a beautifully scenic trip. It wasn't too crowded and the kids had a blast! While the drive is a little further than we typically go, we'll have to come back up this way before the end of summer. Definitely worth a visit!
The camping sites were spacious and private enough and cost a reasonable $10/night. A nice stream runs behind the camping spots and there's a bathroom onsite. Other than waking up covered in ant bites, we had a nice experience.
It's a campground with a picnic table and fire ring/grill. The host is nice and helpful and it's the best place to go if you have kids don't have to worry about drunks or idiots ruining your fun. The campground is flat and kinda in a circle so it's perfect for bikes or whatever there is a nice swimming hole and hiking trails available. Police patrol the area so it really makes you feel safe.
Always love paint creek!! Beautiful scenery all around!! Will always go there and take my family to it.
Great campground, quiet and host is super nice.
Very secluded. Great if you like being alone.
Fun! Would recommend a type of water shoes though.
