Love love love this place. Everyone is so nice!!!!!! It's clean and honestly I could have spent the entire time there having a blast!!! I muss Joe's hugs everyday!!!!
If you followed me and have read my post on places that I've traveled to you'll notice I never complain. But!!.... I'm gonna complain on this post... LOL We've been to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota an event that's held once a year. We have stayed at many campsites in Sturgis South Dakota before and we've always made our reservations via telephone. (my boyfriend likes to speak to a human person over the phone when making reservations.. This year he wanted to try a new place the campsite (Pappy Hole Campsite and Resort) because it's next to Full Throttle bar/saloon, we figured it would be nice to be at a campsite enjoy all of the partying amenities at the nearby facility and be at a campsite that offers amenities and not have to drink and ride.. The campsite was pretty expensive about $1,000 for 6 nights full hookup. That price was to come with all access to all events happening within the area (so they said). After traveling for 26 hours and finally getting to our destination Pappy hole Campground & Resort,- during our check-in we were guided to a large red barn where several ladies were standing behind a large desk they pointed us to screened computers asking us all for our personal information "even passengers" we arrived at 4:55pm they mentioned to us if it would have been five more minutes later we would have had to wait till the next day to check in...😡 the lady that was helping us informed my boyfriend that there would be a $365.00 extra fee per person for a wristband that allows us to come in and out of the campsite, something that was never mentioned to us when we made the reservation. This would allow us to participate in certain concerts, the pool and other things that we never found out where these places were. We mentioned to the lady we just wanted the campsite and not participate in any of the local events. The lady at the front desk said we had no choice! it was mandatory to purchase those wristbands at that price per person. And if we choose to cancel at the last minute we would not be reimbursed for prepaying for the campsite, in other words we would have been out $1,000 and good luck trying to find another campsite during this motorcycle rally. So $1700 later...😨🤬 we had to pay and had no choice... Also the friends that were traveling with us in their own RV's had to do the same. In the end!... Pappy Hole Campground and resort was not worth the price that we paid, we never got a spreadsheet of all events that they solicited, we never got a map and never found out where the pool was, never saw a band or heard music, they didn't even give us complimentary coffee or breakfast.. You had to pay extra for that too💲🤑💸. So not worth the money! They didn't have any musical bands in that Big Red Barn of theirs. Just an overpriced store and overpriced food (that if you wanted to eat there you were charged for it. We had to go next door to the Full Throttle bar to enjoy music and get food. The campsite was generic, "a basic campsite" nothing spectacular. Hooking-up the RV didn't go smooth, we could not hook up our sewer because the cap was sealed shut my boyfriend and his friend's had to pry the cap off of the sewer the next day so we can attach our system to there's, I think the only thing that worked was the electrical hookup!.. oh wait!...🤬there were some nights we had no electricity from there hook-ups 🤨 we had to start our generator and use our batteries. When we mention this to the front desk (red barn) they said there's nothing they could do about it... I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Come here every year for Sturgis. Love the place, people and the whole experience. Will be coming back for many more years.
If you're going for bike week, there is no other camp grounds better that Pappy Hoel's. The only reason to leave is to ride the black Hills. I've been going since the late seventies. Been there, done that, stayed everywhere. Haven't stayed anywhere else for the last ten years. Every year it gets better, Offers more, You get what you pay for!
Made a stop here because a store owner on Main Street in Sturgis said to check it out. I'm so glad we did. This place was AMAZING! There are so many cool things to check out. You have to see it for yourself! They have a cool bar, but the only downfall is that they don't serve any food. Other than that, it's a must-see!!
I DIDN'T GET TO STAY HERE... ITS KINDA ATTACHED TO THE FULL THROTTLE SALOON... THEY SHARE THE SAME AREA... LOOKS LIKE A FUN TIME THOUGH... THERE IS A POOL, THE FULL THROTTLE SALOON, AND A MOONSHINE DISTILLERY!!! I GOT HERE A LITTLE LATE AND WE WERE JUST PASSING THRU. I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK AND CHECK IT ALL OUT... MAYBE RENT A CABIN OR TWO AND CHILL FOR THE WEEKEND!!!
