Nice place to primitive camp, we set up camp here then launched kayaks from rainbow bend campground and floated down to here. A few stores nearby, one within easy walking distance. Very poor cell service, text messages only.
Beautiful place to stop, not so much to camp. Semis driving the road will make you think banshees are coming to get you. Anyone who says it's quiet or peaceful hasn't tried to sleep here.
Be on the lookout for the ramp there is not much notice of it. Easy ramp to pull out on, racks for the boats and very spacious campgrounds. You could easily set up a hundred and fifty tents in the camping area. The fire rings are nice steel and concrete structures. There was some down wood around for us to burn up. The picnic table bench was a bit rotten and broke on us, but the rest of the table was in good shape. The restrooms were good. Beautiful area but some highway noise.
A lovely State Forest campground! Drinkable water from the well's hand pump (it ran right through my filter, also tasted fine beforehand anyways) and refreshingly not pungent vault toilets were treats after nights of dispersed camping. The only downside is sleeping right next to a reasonably busy county road, so the quiet of the river isn't really accessible
