Payne Lake Family Campground is a PRIVATE campground. Payne Lake Provincial Park is the campground that has camping spots on both sides of the lake. It is quiet and there are quite a few trees/bushes on the one side but very open on the other. We have camped in this campground and enjoyed our time here. There are no services for this campground, or playground, but bathroom facilities are kept very clean.
Clean and quiet. The way it shoukd be after everyone has put away their campers
We had driven around Payne Lake Recreational Area last summer as we wanted to explore and find new campgrounds we had not.prviously known about or stayed at! We drove from Cardstona and stayed one night to see what it was like! The park is well kept and there are sites on both sides of the lake! There are no showers! You must carry your own water as there is no potable water and no trailer dump station! No services of any kind! There are several sites with trees for shade and lakeside in Park B! We found the park and washrooms to be cleaned well kept. The on site park attendant was very nice and is doing a great job. There are gophers for your dogs to chase! The loons on the lake add a definite ambiance! I love their calls and it is very calming to hear them calling at night! Wish there was water and sewer dump available closer! Enjoyed our overnight! We will return now we know what to expect! We will stay for 3 or 4 nights next time! Well worth the effort and drive!
I've not stayed at the campground but the lake is excellent. It's a great lake for ice fishing in the winter and trolling with a boat in the summer. Amazing views of the mountains. And it's close to home. What more could you ask for?
Beautiful place to go! Visited my mom & her boyfriend here with my kiddo and was just so nice! Only annoying part was the flying ants lol
