Customer Reviews
We left a dirty pan in our campsite (It was still hot from cooking) along with our coolers and a pack of wet wipes while we went fishing. When we got back there was a sign on our site saying our items had been confiscated and needed to be picked up due to the bears in the area. I can understand to a certain degree, but still I think that was too much. The next day my son needed to use the bathroom. When we came back from the bath house, Karen the park ranger was in our site, again, and asked if it was our site. When I told her it was, she said she was going to inform law enforcement that we left similar items out, until I explained to her I had only taken my son to the bath house. Karen was on a power trip and we will never stay there again.
A great location: close to 3 peaks for a good hiking opportunity, and it's located about 10 minutes to Bedford. We visited during a supposedly busy June's weekend, but it was not crowded at all. There are plenty of FF sites and reservable ones, and many were vacant. Have restroomes (non-electric), and the campground overall is clean and not too noisy despite of being closed to highway. Only thing I'd wish it was there was a shower, but unfortunately you have to drive to Bedford's YMCA facility for a small fee (
Sites very close to the local attractions. There is substantial road noise. The sites are not very level so be prepared to level your equipment.
First time camping here. Sites seemed well-maintained and well-spaced. Good selection of both RV and tent sites, with 3 separate loops of sites that all cost $20 per night. No water or electrical hookups, but there are restroom facilities spread throughout the campground that are in good shape, though they offer no exterior or interior lighting. There is a store within easy walking distance, as well as a visitor center, lodge/restaurant and a range of hiking trails, ranging from easy to difficult. The campground was quiet and dark after around 10 p.m. Made for a relaxing time around the campfire. Keep an eye and ear out for bears - they are very active in and around this campground, according to the rangers. Would definitely return here.
Camp sites are spacious and spread out relatively well for privacy. The picnic tables are nice and sturdy and the fire pits have a grill. Bathrooms were well maintained, kept stocked with toilet paper, soap, and paper towels. We did need to walk through another campsite to get to the trail for the bathroom. We stayed on the outer ring, to avoid that possibility.
