This chickee campground provides an authentic taste of the state's rich outdoor traditions, situated on the water with access via canoe or kayak. Ideal for adventurers and nature lovers, Pearl Bay Chickee combines serene surroundings with opportunities for exploration and relaxation.

Located in Pearl Bay, FL, this campsite is a hidden gem accessible only by water, adding to its remote charm. The area boasts dense mangroves, open waters teeming with life, and stunning sunsets, making it a haven for photographers and anglers alike. Bring your fishing gear or camera to fully capture the natural beauty.

Facilities at Pearl Bay Chickee are basic yet clean, offering primitive camping on elevated platforms (chickees) over water. Amenities include an outhouse, fire pit, and picnic tables. The location is mosquito-free during cooler months but may attract a few flies in mid-February, so insect repellent is advisable.

Guests praise the campsite for its pristine condition and secluded setting. Many highlight the peaceful nights with vibrant starry skies and the lively water at dawn and dusk. One visitor noted that bringing rope to secure tents is helpful since staking isn't viable in the sandy area.

  • Environment: Surrounded by mangroves and open water, offering diverse wildlife viewing opportunities. Water comes alive at night with fish and bioluminescent organisms.
  • Access: Reached via a 2-3 hour canoe or kayak paddle from Hell’s Bay trailhead, featuring varied terrain from dense mangroves to open waters.

The perfect chickee! It was about a 3 hour canoe paddle from Hell’s bay trailhead, with the first half being a very dense mangrove labyrinth, and the latter half being pretty open and easy. We came in December, so the mosquitos weren’t had at all. Definitely bring some rope to help secure your tent down to the chickee, since stakes won’t work. We didn’t see much wildlife during the day, but the water comes alive at night. Overall, very clean and in the perfect spot.

Great place to camp. About 2.5 hours to get there paddling. Mosquitoes weren't bad but has a few annoying flies in mid February.

We made a stop here while it was empty so we could have lunch and rest before taking another three hours to our final chickee at Lane Bay. Two bathrooms, and two platforms. Nice view.

This was the highlight of our Everglades trip. The trip there and back are an adventure that took us around 3 hours each way. The pearl bay is peaceful and the chickee is cleans and in good shape. The bathrooms are also clean. Adventure awaits.
