We stayed at the campground. The employees were friendly and helpful. The campground is relatively small, and despite being next to a road, quiet. However, with the exception of the horse sites, none of the regular sites are level, north/south or east/west. We used all of our leveling blocks and still didn't get quite level. Some sites must be used by locals because there were trailers that were leveled by using multiple concrete blocks. We camped after a weekend and the bathrooms were not cleaned, nor were the trash cans emptied. The dumpster was however. We ate on a Sunday night at the lodge, having catfish sandwiches and fries. All were cooked well. Our waitress was efficient and polite, but I don't think she wanted to be there that night. Overall, the park is a nice place to visit.

I LOVE this state park, I have been coming here my whole life while visiting our extended family down the road. I love the food at the lodge and the cabins and rooms are just right. We didn't have enough time to walk any trails our last visit, but the trails are very nice too.

We had the pleasure of staying in both the lodge and a two bedroom cabin. Loved it ! My wife and I own and run a lodge and cabins in Colorado and appreciate the work involved. We highly recommend staying at Pennyrile State Park.

This is a awesome place. They have full hook up campgrounds, hotel rooms and cabins. Hiking trails, lake with beach and boat, kayak rentals, swimming pool, 18 hole golf and mini golf, tennis and basketball court. The staff is great, friendly and accommodating. Extremely relaxing.

The beach area here is very nice. There is actual sand to make sandcastles and the swimming area is also sandy and not muddy and squishy which was great. Everything was clean and well kept and the staff at the lodge was very friendly. We also camped for 4 days, the campsites are kind of small to my liking but the camp area was well maintained and close to the beach. We went mid June and the water was still fresh.
