Lovely little campground. I had a full shade spot with a fire ring and table. Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of five are the entrance is pretty steep and the roads are narrow. If you have a big RV it's a little tight.
Beautiful campground overlooking Lake Wappapello. High on the bluff, all sites have great views. Nice hiking path and boat access if you like to fish. We would stay again.
I love this place to go camping. But I won't do it till my babies are old enough to help us out lol. But it was really fun, and have a beautiful view where we camp ot. Amazing place with a beach lake and restroom/bathroom.
Very nice campground. Typical Army Corp Campground. Typical in that everything is perfect. Very clean. Full hookups in the southern loop with 30/50 amp power. All sites paved. There are two loops here. Loop 1 through 38 (the northern loop called The Lower Loop) and Loop 39-57 (southern loop called The Upper Loop). We arrived in October and The Lower Loop was already closed for the season. Hence, this review is only for The Upper Loop. All sites well designed for easy back in. When you pull in off the main road the first road to your left is sites 55 through 57. If your turn right then straight ahead is the main camping area, but just to your left are sites 50 through 52. From a walk around the campground it looks like all the sites are pretty level side to side But, from front to back you may be on a slope. The worst site here in my opinion would be site 39. It backs directly up to the very busy and noisy highway. I would avoid this site. Very nice marina within walking distance with a boat ramp. Nice paved hiking trail around the park. Shower and toilet facilities available. Picnic tables and fire rings at each site. Camp host on duty.
Our first visit and we enjoyed two nights camping. The campground is a typically well maintained CoE campground. In addition to a beach and boat ramp, campers can easily access the 3.0 mile Lake View Trail that can be used to reach the Lake Wappapello Dam and visitor center at the Spillway Recreation Area.
