Nestled along Forest Road 362 near Ketchum, Idaho, Pettit Lake Campground offers a lovely and quiet retreat within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category. Based on visitor feedback, it provides an ideal setting for those seeking a peaceful outdoor experience with access to various recreational activities.

Environment: Pettit Lake Campground is situated right beside the Tincup trailhead, which provides access to the popular Alice Lake and Toxaway Lake loop. The campground is located next to Pettit Lake, described as shallower than other nearby lakes, making it perfect for stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), kayaking, and swimming, notably without the noise of boats. The sites are generally flat and spacious. While it can get dusty during dry times, the overall atmosphere is appreciated for its tranquility. Site 13, located at the end/turnaround, is specifically mentioned as very peaceful.

Services: This is described as an "old school campground" operating on a first-come, first-served basis, with no reservations accepted. The cost is $20 per night. A friendly host, Fred, is mentioned as managing the check-in process. Each site is equipped with flat and spacious areas suitable for camping. While specific amenities like restrooms or water sources aren't detailed, the positive reviews suggest basic, clean facilities are likely available. There are also good day-use areas available if there is a wait for a campsite. Unlimited dispersed camping is located about a half mile away as an alternative.

Features: A significant feature of Pettit Lake Campground is its direct access to the Tincup trailhead, leading to exceptional wilderness hiking opportunities, including the Alice Lake and Toxaway Lake loop. For those interested in water activities, Pettit Lake's shallower waters are ideal for SUP, kayaking, and swimming. Mountain biking trails are also accessible right from the campground. The campground is known for being quieter mid-week and during non-holiday periods. It is a smaller campground that fills up quickly, especially during peak times. The availability of double sites can sometimes lead to a less spacious feel when they are fully occupied. The "no boat noise" is a notable feature appreciated by those seeking a serene lakeside experience. Local wildlife, specifically "greedy chipmunks," are also a notable presence.

Lovely, quiet campground right beside Tincup trailhead (leading to Alice Lake/Toxaway loop). Shallower lake than others nearby which means it is perfect for SUP/kayak and swimming and no boat noise (perfect!). $20/night (First come, no reservations - quieter mid week), flat and spacious sites. Fred (the host) is friendly and checks you in :) Highly recommend staying here - site 13 at the end/turn around is very peaceful. Watch out for the greedy chipmunks!

Small campground go midweek ,non holidays, fills up fast, good mtn. Biking right out of the campground and amazing wilderness hiking there too. Old school campground, dusty at dry times, small but not cramped unless the doubles are full. Good day use areas if you have to wait it out unlimited dispersed camping a half mile away.it was our guaranteed quick getaway spot any day of the week, but it's been discovered, go early in the day.

Beautiful spot to camp or hang out for the day. For the most part, the experience was all positive. The current rate for a campsite is 18.00. Looking around the Campground, it seemed a bit much. First, there is an inadequate number of toilets. In fact, there's only one in the camp area. An adjoining hiking trailhead parking lot has more but the stalls in the men's didn't lock nor did the outer door latch. Mildly concerning in bear country. I noticed a couple of picnic tables in sites that were in poor condition. The beach space from the Campground is fairly limited as well. The road in isn't too bad, but a little rough at least in my car. Fantastic dark sky's for photos, hiking, beautiful views, very near the water for recreation.

Absolutely gorgeous campground nestled between the picturesque lake and main trailhead to the mountains. Kelley, our camp host, was quite the character and boy was he on top of things. Every single time we needed help he would just show up as if I had summoned a genie. He got us squared away in a beautiful site and made sure it was freshly raked and ready for us to settle in. I think he knew everyone in the campground which is quite remarkable considering the churn of a holiday weekend. Anyway, if you're looking for a quiet place to stay with both lake and trailhead access, this is the spot for you.

Pettit Lake Campground is AMAZING... Except during Labor Day weekend! Then it is just plain INSANITY! Our camp host Keith was fabulous during the 9 days we were there even though he had so much chaos to deal with.
