Absolutely love this place. Camped here in late June. Had the place to myself for a day or two, then the campground was about 50% full. Not much upkeep happening with the sites. Grass was very tall and home to a small snake. The sites back right up to the N Platte River, where 16" trout live. Plenty of dispersed camping available on the way in from FR 512. Vault toilet is near; no water on site. Bighorn sheep roam the ridges, eagles fly the skies and coyotes howl into the night. This is remote camping and a great place to unplug.
Man, I love this place
Primitive, difficult to reach spot on the river... if you're looking for a peaceful place with beautiful river views and no amenities, then this is for you.
The road is so awful. I have never been stuck in my Subaru until I tried to go camping here. We finally made it and it was full of garbage.
4x4 required unless you’re mental. Clearly I’m mental. Drove our 21’ class C fwd down which was sketchy as. Driving it back up was savage 😂🤦♂️ Campsite is overgrown but nice. Would have stayed but there was increased bear activity and a moose carcass put us off as we have 2 dogs and aren’t from around here. Also, the thought of having to get back meant I couldn’t rest. Nice spot just if you have a 4wd. Be warned. Don’t be as stupid as me.
