I stayed here for 4 nights at the very end of March 2021. The surrounding views are beautiful on all sides. This site is exceedingly isolated and traffic coming past the site is limited. We would usually leave the site about 9am and return at 7 pm each day because we were out exploring the rest of the park, so I can't speak for how busy the road is during those hours. It's directly off of a primitive road and it takes a while to get to the closest paved road, about 20 minutes, and a further 10 minutes to the Ranger Station/gas station. The site pad is pretty large and supported my friends large family tent (10x12) and my two person tent (4x7) with plenty of room for a table, chairs and space to walk. The ground is hard and pushing in the tent stakes was all but impossible without a mallet. Even with a mallet you'll have to hunt for good spots to stake the tent. You'll have to stake any tent or canopy excessively because the winds can pick up out of nowhere and be up to 20 mph. There is a huge bear box on site that we used for all our food plus a lot of other gear we didn't want to leave out. The box is a good height and we put an Aqua-trainer on top to use as a hand washing station but it was a little too tall to use a portable propane grill on top.

Primitive sites. Quiet and remote. If the basin is busy these are a good choice. An easy drive from the main road. 4x4 not necessary on last visit.
