Pioneer Park Campground Introduce
Pioneer Park Campground, located at 1563 N Scenic Dr, Muskegon, MI 49445, offers a camping experience with scenic views and beach access. You can contact them at (231) 744-3580 or +1 231-744-3580.
As a part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, Pioneer Park Campground provides a mix of positive and negative experiences, according to customer reviews. While the location and some amenities are highly praised, certain policies and facilities have been criticized.
On the positive side, the campground is lauded for its "amazing" beach access, which is within a nice walking distance. The bathrooms and showers are described as "huge and clean." The fire rings are noted as being "the best we've seen anywhere." The park staff is considered "super chill and always on top of everything."
However, several significant drawbacks have been highlighted. One major complaint is the "crazy" policy of charging $5 per day, per car, for parking on your own campsite, in addition to the camping fee. The campground is also "very very strict" on the two-car rule per campsite, even when there are numerous empty sites available. This has caused frustration for visitors with family members visiting for short periods.
The pickleball courts, which are converted tennis courts, are described as "very old" with "holes" in the nets and fencing, and "faint" lines on cracked cement. The advertised dollar ice cream is only available during limited hours on Thursdays and weekends, which was disappointing for some guests.
Some campsites are described as "smashed in between two unsightly campsites" and "very small," although management was accommodating in allowing a switch to a larger site in one instance. The hot water in the showers varies, and campsites far from the bathrooms require a long walk, especially for children.
In summary, Pioneer Park Campground offers a beautiful beach location and clean facilities, but potential campers should be aware of the strict parking policies and the condition of some recreational areas. It is recommended to clarify parking and amenity details with the campground before making a reservation.

Loved this park, full over the weekend and we still had plenty of space. Bathrooms/showers are huge and clean. Beach access is super close, park people were super chill and always on top of everything. Best fire rings we've seen anywhere 👌
Cons: You have to pay $5 per day(per car)for parking your car ON YOUR OWN CAMP SITE(crazy)! This is on top of paying Your camping fee! - they're very very strict on two-car rule on the campsite. They monitor this very closely! There were empty sites all around us and our family member who was coming for dinner could not park on any of them! Our campsite was big enough to host three cars and they had to move their vehicle in the middle of eating dinner. They had to walk all the way across the other side of the campsite to put it in a small parking lot. We had one family member decide to spend the night and we're told that their car could not even stay in the park Even though there was overflow parking in the far end of the campsite And she had paid to park! So we had to go to one of the neighboring campers and ask them if our family member could park their car on their property for the night (they only had one car). This was very ridiculous because there were at least 35 campsites around us that were completely empty and she could have parked anywhere!! Very unreasonable! - pickleball courts are Very old tennis courts. The nets had holes in them. The fencing behind the pickleball courts even had holes in them. The cement had cracks. There were lines but they were very faint. We went there once with our kids but did not return. - The kids saw the dollar ice cream sign when we checked in. They told us it would be on Thursday. Kids were so excited. We went to the ice cream shop only to find that they only serve it between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. on Thursdays and then the weekends. We were leaving unfortunately. Thankfully Norm's on the causeway is open all day till 10:00 p.m.! We also visited ice box off of Whitehall road and duck Lake. They are open till 3:00 everyday and have great selection. Pros: They had nice fire pits. -Beach was amazing. It was a nice walk to the beach. -Our campsite was smashed in between two unsightly campsites. Very small when we got there. Not at all what we expected. Management was very nice in letting us switch to a larger campsite down the road. -Bathrooms were clean! Pick your showers carefully as the hot water in some is not very hot! If you choose to camp on the tree line, you have to walk three roads over to a bathroom. It's pretty far for small kids.
Beautiful setting, well maintained campground. Staff is overly concerned, fussy. Can be friendly if you are fortunate to meet the one or two that care more about your experience than their long list of rules.
Very nice sites. Most are fairly level. Very quiet. Very strick about 2 car rule, per site. Restrooms were clean. They need a better stool/bench in handicap ♿️ shower room. More towel hooks are needed, as well. No handicap beach access.
This past week was my third time camping here. I love the family atmosphere, bathrooms were clean, easy to get to the beach, nice playground, close by restaurants and stores. And the sunsets are AMAZING!
