A gorgeous oasis for tired travelers! From the crystal blue reservoir waters to the peaceful flock of sheep grazing nearby, huge fire pits and shade to park in, this little gem is well worth a visit.
Me and my sister went here after going to the purple haze dance. A freind recommended it. It was dark and we got stuck. We didn't end up staying but it was really fun and we have those fun memories.
The camping area is horrible all torn up by 4 X 4s unable to find level area. So we moved to the paved picnic day use area. Which worked well since there was no one else around.
It was super windy when I visited this campground, the water was very cold and choppy in June, but my kids and I went in anyway. The shore was also covered in plants and wood chips/sticks/leaves and other natural debris but no litter. The shore has sand but it was a very coarse sand . The water level is really high right now so we could not drive out very far around the edge of the lake before the road vanished under the water. We took drift wood and made a lean-to shelter then left after about 2 hours. I have never camped overnight here nor used watercraft, but in years past have cooked dinner on the shore and played in the water. I think the better time to go is in July (water will not be as cold) and prepare for insects, especially mosquitoes. It will be busier around the July 4th holiday. It is a $5 charge for each vehicle for daytime visit, more if you stay overnight.
Well spaced out campsites. Very windy but most sites had wind shields.
