Love this campground, we go every year to "get away", so we don't mind if the cell service is spotty or the toilet doesn't flush. Singletree is a better campground for that. But we love that there's a creek that runs by it for the kiddos and nearby lakes for lots of fishing, hiking and ATV trails. Very peaceful place!
It's nice here. A small creek runs behind our camp spot. It's clean. Lots of trees and shade. Picnic tables, bathroom, fire pit, a dumpster and it's a small campground. We have the whole place to ourselves. It rained right after we got here and we have no mud issues. (We have 3 large dogs, the pine needles cover the grounds keeping our dogs paws clean.) No camp host.. Close to the Hwy, easy to get too. The handicap spot is very nice. One spot has built in benches around the fire pit.
We enjoyed our stay here thoroughly. We were surprised to see the prices were higher than what was on the website, so that does need to be updated. The campground is right next to the road but the traffic wasn't very heavy so it normally wasn't a bother. The river flowed quickly past our site, which was nice. The Ponderosas are beautiful and provide shade for most of the day. Just a short walk down the hill and you get into some beautiful meadow area with other kinds of pine trees and some aspens too. It's so green right now. The bathroom was fairly clean and we never ran out of TP. Some of the sites seemed a little close to each other but most of them were empty the whole weekend anyway. The fire ring is metal with a flip-over grill/grate to use for cooking over the fire, which we used several times for our meals. Most of the sites have only enough room for 1-2 cars to park, but we were at the only one that fit 3 vehicles (there were three couples, between us). No additional parking. The weather was amazing when we went and the trees were great for hammocks. The camp host was really nice and gave us an ankle brace when my wife rolled her ankle on a hike. Capital Reed is just 40 minutes or so away, and Lower Bowns Reservoir about 20 minutes away, though there were a million ants there so we didn't stay long haha. We would stay here again.
Good access to the nearby parks, clean campsites, water spigots, garbage, tables, fire pits, and a toilet. For being something we just stumbled on, it was a pleasant surprise.
Awesome location, good camping spots and facilities. Nice big trees. Great scenery.
Very nice CG. Vault toilet, pressurized water. However no cell signal for me.
