I visited in October, so it was not very busy at all. I went for a short, quiet walk down to the water. It was very peaceful. It was lovely just sitting there, looking at the beautiful colors on the trees & out across Lake Champlain. I left some Kindness Rocks at a couple of the trail heads and on a few of the MANY picnic tables available for use. I had a limited amount of time to spend at the park. I was unable to take advantage of the many trails, so I could not speak about those. Hopefully, if I have the opportunity to visit again, I will have the time to explore.
This lovely park is located just north of Plattsburgh along the shores of Lake Champlain. I was here to try to see the lighthouse, but it is not accessible during the greener months. It is on private property and could normally only be seen through the trees when they're bare. Not today in mid-July. So now that I'm enjoying the park, let's check out this. A very pretty sandy beach that has floats out to mark off the swimming area from boaters. Picnic tables and barbecue grills. Volleyball, softball and the like. And it's all free.
Lovely fall walk out to Long Point. The trails are well maintained and provide a beautiful canopy of color. Views are wonderful, the walk is easy and it is so relaxing. Equally as fun in the summer to hike our to take out a kayak or SUP in the wind-protected bay... great for beginners and for families. Great for dogs, kids, families, and seniors with easy access.
Was lucky enough to hike all the way out to the tip of Long point, AKA Rocky point on Google, during the totality on April 8th and it was life-changing. I could not have picked a better place to witness this sacred celestial event. A gorgeous Park. Definitely worth a visit, Plattsburgh is a lucky town!
