We have been coming here for almost 20 years. Absolutely love the area, good camp sites and amenities. However some the camp host are reaping the benefits of a host without fulfilling the duties. 2 camp hosts at each RV area, one that picks up trash daily and one that is supposed to maintain the restrooms. We typically stay at area 2, and Richard is on it when it comes to picking up trash daily, making sure everyone is good. As for the other host...Absolutely worthless! The bathrooms were NEVER cleaned. We checked them before Memorial weekend all way up to June 3rd. They had their "Host out" sign the entire time, yet they were there, outside being loud at 5:30am, junk everywhere as if they've "lived" there for years. The men's bathroom did not have toilet paper for at least 10 days, a urinal screen on the counter in the women's bathroom, trash overflowing everywhere. Unsanitary and absolutely disgusting!

Decent bang for your buck at these cabins. Great little secluded area on the lake with lots of room for kids to run around and explore. There is also a wonderful park a few miles up the road with a lake view, shade, and great playground equipment. The cabin had a full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and 2 pull out couches (one in the living room and another in the loft). Although the springs/support pieces on one pullout bed were completely shot and no longer attached to the frame, leaving the pull out bed unusable. The cabin was great but could definitely use a deep clean, there was dust on nearly every surface, an abundance of cobwebs, dead bugs in windowsills, and spiderwebs galore. We were told that these cabins book out solid 6 months in advance when we booked it, but out of the 5 cabins in the loop there were only 2 occupied the weekend we stayed and from the state of the cabin it didn’t appear that it had been stayed in for a while. The cabin provided fairly basic amenities but you will need to bring a few things for extended stays such as extra garbage bags, toilet paper, paper towels, coffee filters, an oven mitt and a can opener. Utensils, cookware, cups and plates were provided but were very well used and mismatched. There were a few safety concerns for staying with young children such as a spindle missing from the loft railing and the upstairs window not being able to latch/lock and having a loose screen, but we blocked off the stairs so our toddler couldn’t access those areas. Overall this was a lovely setting to “rough it” at the lake, not nearly as luxurious as a hotel but a fun and affordable environment to relax in for a weekend.

I've been coming here since I was 7, 8 years old. I'm now 62. This rest/resort area for the military has ALWAYS been excellent in every way possible, in my opinion. It has changed, but the changes (with the exception of the loss of Pine Camp) have all been good. I really do appreciate that it is for military, veterans, our dependants & our ilk - it's always like being around family, and "at home" if you're a military person. The Marina is, I hear, excellent, and the fishing as good as it gets around much of the lake. Playgrounds are VERY nice & very modern in some of the areas. While the Beach area *used* to be "all sand" with a dock way off in the water, it is still nice, though the area underwater is silty clay rock. You might want to wear some shoes for wading, especially if you're a tenderfoot. (I am.) I am also a fan of the beach area, soooo . . . You can find a nice set of pavilions there, plus a somewhat limited concession, plus gobs of picnic tables. A great place to relax, celebrate, hold a quiet party (be respectful of other guests.) There USED to be changing rooms, but they appear to be gone; however, there are gender assigned bathrooms. PLENTY of trash cans, so hey! - use 'em. It's a nice place to be. Picnic areas and camping grounds abound, and they are all well serviced & taken care of. There is a large "Conference Center" which can also be rented for parties, official events, and WEDDINGS. :-D I know THAT because my daughter got married there! :-) It is very pretty with nicely groomed grounds, and very well taken care of. There are a lot more amenities, activities, rentals, etc. that we, the military personnel (and their dependants!) can use - a nice place to get AWAY from the pressures of military life, spousal deployment (especially if you've got kids! Like my mother did, LOL!) - or away from post for a break from military life around folks who've lived the life you have, if you've been in, or around, the military. A very relaxing & restful place - or one for excitement if you're into boating, fishing, camping & all that. If you found this review helpful, please leave a 'thumbs-up' so I know that I am not just wasting my time here posting some detailed reviews to help you

Gravel sites that are mostly level. Fairly clean bathrooms with showers available. 2 washers and dryer $1.50 for wash $1 for dry and they worked well. Beautiful area to relax with mostly quiet days. The weekend can be busy. We spent a month here and really enjoyed the water. 3J is a large area with shade all day however when it rains it has a lot of water that runs through the site.

Pointes West Army Resort Must have military affiliation. Civilian at the gate checks your name off a reservation list (if you made a reservation). You will be directed to the lodge - be sure to park on the right side of the road. Plenty of room for large RVs. Door to the left as you approach the lodge is the entrance. Check in was quick - we paid $25 per night and were given a brief list of rules - we had to sign a copy and leave with the staff. Basically, put your trash in the trash cans, leave no trash at your sites to include cig butts in the fire ring. If you do, there is a $100 clean up fee charged. Fire wood at $7 a bundle is available. RV sites have e/w/s and for AT&T we had two bars. No WiFi but WiFi and laundry are available at the lodge. Closest large town is Evans, GA to the left about 15miles. Plenty of big box stores as well as ACE and other stores if you need either supplies or repair items. The ACE was very nice and include a gun/ammo section. The first gas station on the left as you leave base was about 15cents higher than other stations in Evan’s. This is a nice park, especially if you have some sort of water craft as access is very easy. We had a back in site on a slight rise with a clear view of the water. Walking through the RV loops, it’s apparent sites are tight. There is a single bath house located at the second RV loop. During our stay, most of the tent campers further down the road were driving up to use the bath house. There is a bathroom (single toilet on each side) at the Marina. There is a small camp store at the main lodge but I wouldn’t have high expectations. It was pretty bare bone so if you need something, drive down to Evan’s.
