Ponderosa Campground Introduce

Discover Ponderosa Campground, a welcoming destination within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category located in East Kootenay B, British Columbia. This campground is particularly appealing due to its convenient location, being super close to the beautiful Surveyor Lake, just 4 kilometers away.

The environment surrounding Ponderosa Campground is described as beautiful. While one reviewer noted it can get hot, the campground offers a trade-off: powered sites with air conditioning are limited, but non-powered sites boast bigger spaces and views of the lake. This suggests a scenic setting with options to suit different preferences regarding amenities and natural vistas.

Services at Ponderosa Campground include a shower house that is consistently praised for being clean and having great water pressure. The bathroom facilities are also noted to be nice and hot. Guests have reported receiving great service from the park rangers, who are described as always visible and presumably available to assist campers. For basic needs and treats, a store with an impressive selection of 12 ice cream flavors is just a short 5-minute drive from the campground.

Key features of Ponderosa Campground include its excellent proximity to Surveyor Lake, offering easy access (4 kms) to amazing beaches and swimming opportunities. The lake is also a habitat for painted turtles, providing a unique wildlife viewing experience. The availability of clean shower and bathroom facilities adds to the comfort of your stay. The nearby store with a variety of ice cream is a convenient and enjoyable amenity. While powered sites with A/C are limited, the larger, non-powered sites offer lake views, catering to different camping styles. The visible and helpful park rangers contribute to a safe and well-managed environment.

Promotional information is subtly woven through the positive reviews. The repeated emphasis on the beauty of the location, the cleanliness and quality of the facilities (especially the showers), the proximity to the recreational activities of Surveyor Lake, and the convenience of a nearby store all serve as compelling reasons to choose Ponderosa Campground. For local users seeking a campground with easy lake access for swimming and beach activities, clean and functional amenities, and a beautiful natural setting, Ponderosa Campground appears to be a highly recommended option.

What a beautiful spot - HOT!! If you need A/C there are limited number of powered sites, if not the trade-off is bigger spaces with views of the lake. Nice hot showers and bathroom facilities. Received great service from the park rangers who were always visible. Tip: make the 5 minute drive over to Surveyor Lake for amazing beach/swimming, plus see the painted turtles!

The Ponderosa Campground is another excellent British Columbia Provincial campsite. Most of the sites are adequately away from the next site and the ones along the lake are remarkable. There are some sites with power but most of them do not have any service, but that is okay as it cools off nice in the evening. The group sites are great for a few families to get together on the perimeter with a nice common area in the middle. There's not much of a beach, but the water is reasonable and clean

Kikomun provincial Park is a great destination and worthy of some time for exploring - beyond the obvious draw of the lakes. The campground is top BC Parks quality. Most of the spaces are generous and separated by berms of local bunchgrass. Along the lake most have water views and shade. Others back onto the grassland and gloriously spaced stands of ponderosa pine. Some sites in the middle have power and are less spacious. So for maximum space leave the TV and lights at home!! There are two camping cabins and a family/group space with a cooking shelter, though that was closed for covid-19 in the summer of 2020. The "vault" toilets were fresh and spotless and the site has a set of individual showers that were more than welcome after each day of hiking. We were also watched over each evening by a local bald eagle who also went fishing in the morning. Full marks!

Normally don't post negative camp site, staff treat you like criminals. They asked u multiple time for our names and reservations. Avoid at all cost. Only one toilet with 4 shower. Like what! No drinking water. Only thing that is good is the views
