Wasn’t sure what to expect, but we were more than pleasantly surprised by the size of our campsite. We stayed just one Friday night, but it was long enough for us to enjoy speaking with people from all over the Country. Heated bathrooms were nicer than some restaurants I’ve been in as well. If you dig camping, go check it out and I strongly recommend making a reservation before heading out.
Huge place, but sites are all very well spaced and private. So many right on the water. Well maintained place throughout. Dump station is available with four spots. Good pressure rinse water with hose connections. Working in mid November, not sure if they get shut off for winter. Potable water fills throughout the grounds. Price is very reasonable. Military discount too. Reservations are impossible short notice, but FCFS is massive and honestly, maybe nicer sites. Very nice, helpful, and professional staff. Especially Amanda at the gate who could be the highlight of the whole place. Can’t wait to come back!
Popular Pt. is a beautiful, affordable campground that should be the model for other state parks to copy. The towering trees are preserved for privacy and shade. We were pleasantly surprised at the nice "sugar" sands on the private beach, along w/ its large parking area. The restroom/showers @loop 'F' were updated/clean and the 50amp electric service was great to have if your RV has more than one A/C. The only improvement would be to add sewer connections @ the RV campsites. The staff was friendly and kept the campground well maintained.
Staying here has been a nice experience, restrooms are old and not very clean like many have mentioned but they are totally usable. I can’t believe they don’t invest money into fixing them up some when they are making so much $ from renting the sites. We stayed in Poplar Point Loop B.
Come here all the time. The staff here are awesome, campsites are great. Shower house is a little cold in winter lol but I love this place
