It is a pretty place, but a little authoritarian. They have 5 mi an hour speed limits throughout the whole thing and they're just dying to catch you going over. I just came to visit and it wasn't bad but it definitely wasn't great.
Clean & quiet. Too much security for me though. It's like being in the witness protection program. I'll list my lot for sale in the spring.
Awesome place to spend your summers, or live there full time.
Most of the staff are terrific, but there are some higher up employees who seem to enjoy playing the power game.
My Dad has has 2 properties here for just over 16 years and yes it's essentially like having an HOA looking over your property and there are 500 rules like the 60+ generation loves and adores. Additionally, like others have mentioned... yes some lots and areas are really nice, a huge majority are full on trailer trash dumps. Yet, apparently these poor people who can't provide upkeep don't get fined or can afford the fines while those clearly taking care of their property are nit picked at and fined for trivial things in comparison. So, there's high inconsistency in enforcement of the rules with the fine emphasis on those who are essentially conscientious and 'free passes' for trashy unkept sites. On the other hand, it's conveniently close to all sorts of upper PNW exploration, the Sound, and all the shops of Marysville. At the end of the day whether this place will work for you is dependent on your needs, how you handle relationships and rules, and how you manage your property.
