Customer Reviews
My family and I went to camp at Presque Isle Campground. We Where celebrating My Father-in-law's and my Birthday. So total of 4 of us counting our better half's. Campgrounds were nice and we was able to get a site next to father and mother in-law. Plenty of room for our 20ft Bell tent, and the in-law rented a camper. Camper was clean and furnished, had cups and plates, and frig stove heat and air-conditioning. Witch was great because, it got very hot a few days there, so we stayed with them to get out of the heat. Our site was Great, Perfect size for our tent, and had electrical hook up and water. But we just need the electric. Clear walk way to site. Host was check on everyone throughout the day. And was very helpful about question about the campgrounds. Bathrooms and shower close to us. There is plenty to Do here, we went fishing, and rented a paddle boat to go fishing. Fish off the docks, and watched people waterski on the lake. the campground had canoes and other boats to rent and get out on the lake. We saw an Eagle flying around and a lot of turtles walking around. Some of the Turtles were laying eggs. we left them alone, but watch them. Saw Plenty of deer on the way to the campgrounds. One of the days the Ladies went into town to shop and buy supply's for the week. It's was about 30-40 minute drive. But they enjoyed there time out. Shopping, homemade ice shops. Craft store everywhere, metal working shop. They did this when we were fishing. We got to talk to the owners a well about the camp grounds. they were very nice and always asked if we needed anything. After a Storm went through the next day the host and owner's where cleaning up the sites and cleaning they road. One of them was even blowing of the road ways to clear the small debris. Over all we had a great time, will go again.
Camper was old, but clean. Not much room to do anything or park. We were right by the gate and the camp host who was RIGHT NEXT TO our camper and cars were coming and leaving throughout the day and even night. Their dog was roaming freely, and agitated our dogs. The shower room was clean as the owners wife made it clear she was really particular about it, with a big ol smile. We had a great day seeing waterfalls and zoo and as soon as we got back, we were greeted by the owner, who said our dogs were acting aggressively and biting at the blinds, scratching the windows and screens. We went in to see the damage and the blinds were askew, a few were bent in weird directions. He immediately wanted us to pay $370 dollars for aluminum blinds, we scrambled and paid because we were forced to. When I went in to reassess the blinds I noticed they were mostly just jostled and only one had an actual bent blinds. The camper was $600 for 3 nights and $370 for one blind. The walkway to the "fishing area" starts with moss covered blocks leading down a steep overgrown tick infested path to the most unsafe piers. Not at all worth $1000. Stay somewhere else.
For what we paid for it wasn't worth the stay. We rented a camper that had a bathroom but couldn't use the toilet or shower. The descriptions on the campers says 5 adults and 6 kids it didn't have that much room like they said. Couldn't even wash dishes, the oven had a funky smell when it was on smelt like dead mice. Plus we were charged for blinds in the camper they said our dog did damage to which was a lie they weren't even in the room they're claiming. Then saying the carpet was dirty when it was raining the whole weekend and we had dirt ground outside the camper. Our dogs of course are going to have mud on paws just like people do on their feet. We paid for $120 pet cleaning also he was just trying to get more money out of us. The owner aggressively attacked us and forced us to pay for blinds that only 1 was ruined. When I was paying for the blinds they said we damaged he was hoovering over me looking at my bank account information felt very uncomfortable. Basically we paid $1,000 for a camper we couldn't use. Blaming us for mother nature like we're not supposed to leave when it is raining. What a joke of a guy running it now. We love the area but will never stay here again. Not kid friendly, nothing for kids to do. It's mostly for adults. Then when the owner reply to customers reviews he comeback with an attack. Doesn't look good on campgrounds when he does. Go ahead and bash my comments looks bad on you!
Quiet campground with beautiful views. Conveniently located. Loved hearing the wildlife at night. Jerry, the camp host was wonderful. We were about 10 ft short on our water hose, so he lent us extra hose, and when our awning wanted to be difficult he gladly let us use his tools. Full hook ups were great and showers/rest rooms worked perfect for us (clean and hot water).
We stayed in the Mountaineer for the past week! Everything was wonderful! Camper was clean and stocked with pretty much everything we needed. Campground is a quiet and peaceful, and met a lot of really nice people. Jerry was our busy host and was super! Would highly recommend this campground. Other than the couple storms that rolled through, mainly at night, we had absolutely beautiful weather. Brought our dog along and he highly recommends this place too!!!!💕💕💕
