Prosser Family Campground Introduce
Nestled in the picturesque town of Truckee, California, Prosser Family Campground offers a peaceful escape for nature lovers and families alike. Surrounded by stunning natural beauty, this campground provides a perfect base for exploring the nearby Lake Tahoe and Truckee areas. Whether you're pitching a tent, parking your RV, or seeking a cozy lodging option, Prosser Family Campground ensures a memorable outdoor experience.
The campground features spacious campsites that are well-spaced, providing privacy and a sense of tranquility. The clean and well-maintained restrooms are a highlight, and the friendly camp host, Richard, is always ready to assist with a smile. Verizon access is available, ensuring you stay connected even while enjoying the great outdoors.
While the campground does not have immediate access to Prosser Reservoir, a short walk or drive down a dirt road will lead you to this beautiful body of water. The reservoir is ideal for kayaking, though the mucky shore makes it less suitable for swimming. The cool nights offer a refreshing respite, ensuring a good night's sleep after a day of adventure.
Prosser Family Campground is more than just a place to stay; it's a gateway to the region's best activities. With easy access to Truckee and Lake Tahoe, you can enjoy hiking, biking, fishing, and more. While it may not be a destination campground in itself, it serves as an excellent base camp for exploring the area's natural wonders.
Here’s what some of our happy campers have to say:
- "We arrived here on a Tuesday and stayed 2 nights in late June, 2023. A lot of your camping experience depends on who is camping across from you. First night there was a very loud family with barking dogs and screaming kids. Luckily, they left the next morning and the entire campsite became a great, calm and relaxing experience. Restrooms were clean and the host was very nice. Walked down to the lake and it was beautiful. Would definitely come here again."
- "Beautiful setting. Campsites are nicely spaced apart and Richard the camp host was friendly and helpful. Campground was clean and well kept. Verizon access available."
- "Access to the reservoir is not immediate in the campground. You need to walk/drive down a dirt road that’s definitely 4 wheel drive only or drive down to the boat launch or access via the Lakeside campground."
- "It cools down nicely at night so you sleep well. Easy and quick access to Truckee and Lake Tahoe. Reservoir was great to kayak in. The shore is pretty mucky so not great for swimming. I’d consider it a great base camp for activities in the area but not a destination campground."
Plan your next getaway to Prosser Family Campground and experience the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. Whether you're a seasoned camper or new to the outdoors, this campground promises a delightful stay in the heart of nature.

Took my son here with my dad for his first camping trip. Had an RV, it was a nice place, grounds were well kept and it was quiet. Limited facilities and no easy path to the lake would be the only issues.
We stayed during the week, there was plenty of first come first serve sights available. Very friendly and helpful camp host. The vault toilets were clean enough and the camp sites nicely spaced. The trail down to the reservoir is short and we enjoyed a swim even though the water level was low. Very comfortable and peaceful stay.
gorgeous campgrounds, nice clean reservoir, blue waters, superb sunsets. overall highly recommend spending a night here.
We’ve stayed here on a couple of different nights. It’s reasonably priced and the amenities are clean. We loved the massive sites and it’s far enough off the highway that it’s very peaceful and quiet. It can get quite cold at night even in the middle of the summer.
