We watched the Solar Eclipse from Prouty Beach. They have restroom facilities open from May to September. There are paved walking paths and plenty of free parking. The lake is so beautiful and the water looks very clean. We were there in April during the Eclipse because Newport VT was in the Totality zone. We were able to view the total eclipse for over 3 minutes without eye protection. It was an incredible experience and the lake view was Beautiful. Prouty Beach in Newport VT is on the Canadian border and most of the lake resides in Canada.
Nice walking trails fun cheap kayaking public beach with VERY clean restrooms and showers with privacy curtains. Nice place although the bugs swarm in early June when I visited! Don't forget ya bug spray! Ha other than that very friendly staff nice clean place enjoyed it overall.
I came here to watch the eclipse on 4/8/24, and it was absolutely unforgettable. Gorgeous location. I might return here to re-visit it, though another eclipse will never happen here again in our lifetime.
We booked early and were able to get one of the spots on the bluff overlooking Lake Memphremagog and Downtown Newport. There is a beach nearby and also some easy walking trails. We had a relaxing stay.
What an amazing spot!! Site #62, beach front, bike front and close to the bath house with a great view of Newport's waterfront.
We loved it. What a NEK hidden gem. Took us about hour and a half to walk full loop including the amazing wooden bridge. Peaceful walking path with tons to see and explore. Said "hello friend" to all we passed. Kids had fun starting in the areas best kid friendly playground.
