Worst place to stay. The noise from I-25 is so loud. The cabins need weather sealed around the doors. The people that work there are not very friendly. There is nothing for kids to do there. Definitely would not recommend this KOA to families.
This is a nice campground. Everything is clean and well maintained, and the staff are all very pleasant and helpful. But…I don’t know that we have ever been to an RV park that was in any worse of a place. First of all, you just have to be very determined to get here, especially if you have any kind of a big rig and then when you do get here you will wonder why you didn’t just pull off and park on the side of the highway other than the fact that you have electricity and water. The road noise is deafening and then there are the trains…. My recommendation if you are trying to get here off the interstate from either direction and are of any size at all (and that means bigger than a VW beetle) is to get on Highway 50 and go to north Purcell Blvd and follow it back to the interstate and once you get there be very careful not to pass the road that goes to the park, it is the first left, the second one puts you on the interstate exit ramp going the wrong way, it’s a very long way to get there but will prove to be worth it and save a lot of frustration and possible damage to your rig (once you get there you will understand what I’m talking about).
**Review of KOA Journey RV Site** I recently had the opportunity to stay at a KOA Journey RV site, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The location was conveniently situated near major highways, making it easy to access and a good stopover point for travelers on longer journeys. The facilities were well-maintained, with clean restrooms and showers, which is always a plus. The campground offered a variety of amenities, including picnic tables and fire pits, which added to the overall experience. There were also options for cabins and tent sites for those looking for alternative accommodations. Staff were friendly and helpful, providing assistance with check-in and answering any questions about the area. There were also some recreational activities available, which could be enjoyable for families or those looking to socialize. One thing to note is that, depending on the specific location, the sites can be somewhat close together, which might not be ideal for those seeking more privacy. However, the atmosphere was generally relaxed and welcoming. In conclusion, KOA Journey RV sites offer a solid option for travelers looking for convenience and a range of amenities. It's a practical choice for a quick stop or a longer stay, especially for those who appreciate the KOA brand’s commitment to customer service.
Outstanding customer service from Sheila and her hubby - who are work campers! She was able to get us in last-minute when we were in a bind. Going the extra mile as an employee just does not come often these days, but those two nailed it! Very clean park as well. A bit of interstate traffic noise, ok a lot, but whatever.
BIG RIGS BEWARE: You cannot easily access this campground. Northbound, it requires a trip thru a 13’3” tunnel. Southbound, it requires a u-turn in a tight intersection. We were coming northbound and the detour to avoid the tunnel took us 6 miles west thru heavy traffic then 9 miles north on a winding road that was mostly 45 mph. It was an extra 20 minutes for big rigs, NOT an easy exit right off the freeway as advertised. I feel like this info should be highlighted for big rigs before you make a reservation. It is not something I would care to do again. The campground itself is nice and if you have a small rig, it’s perfectly fine.
