Pueblo Park Campground Introduce

Pueblo Park Campground, located in Reserve, NM 87830, offers a free, rustic camping experience for those seeking seclusion and natural beauty. As part of the "Campgrounds & RV Parks" category, it provides a basic camping area with limited amenities.

Customer reviews highlight the campground's free camping policy, with a 14-day stay limit. The campground features vault toilets, but there is no water available, so campers must bring their own.

Access to the campground is via NM-232/Pueblo Park Road, a winding, one-lane dirt road that extends six miles from Highway 180. This road is generally suitable for cars and trucks but may be challenging for longer vehicles or those towing trailers, due to limited turn-around space. The creek in the area has been reported to be dry.

The campground offers a secluded and peaceful setting, with large, spectacular trees and potential wildlife encounters, including cows. While it can be busier than expected, especially on weekends, it provides opportunities to find quieter spots. However, some areas may have animal carcasses, which could deter some campers.

The drive to the campground is described as cool, and there are apparently awesome hiking trails nearby. However, some campers have opted for alternative campgrounds, like Head of the Ditch Campground, for greater peace and quiet.

Pueblo Park Campground offers free, rustic camping with seclusion and natural beauty. Located in Reserve, NM 87830.

Free camping, 14 day stay limit! Vault toilets, but no water. From 180 we drove 6 miles down 232/Pueblo Park road, a winding one-lane dirt road which is perfectly fine for cars or trucks but a little sketchy for longer vehicles or those towing a trailer (not impossible, but not many places to turn around either). As of last week the creek was dry. Visited on a Monday and even with the long drive out, it was busier than we expected. Found one quieter area but there was a dog(?) carcass there so we decided to move on. It was a cool drive & apparently there are some awesome hikes nearby, but we decided to go to Head of the Ditch Campground instead for peace & quiet.

We were the only ones here! Well except for the cows... The trees are very big and spectacular! This campsite was 6 miles off the road but the trip was definitely worth it!

Beautiful old growth Ponerosa pine. I went in early April, FR232 was a little wet and rutted, I was pulling a small TT, lucky to get in and out, very narrow forest road with few places to allow two vehicles to pass. Feral cattle have overgrazed much of the area. No cell service or even radio reception. Definitely a primitive spot and experience.

Secluded location in ponderosa pines. Huge campsites. Several hiking trails accessible from the campground.

Fine remote campground but nothing super special. The road in is fine for cars and in my case motorcycles. The sites are OK but not very private and they are very dusty which is caused I suspect by folks bringing in larger RVs and ATVs. You can get to AZ along this road but that requires a 4x4 as it gets pretty rocky.
