Purden Lake Provincial Park is a wonderful park less than an hour East of Prince George. The camp sites are up to typical provincial park standards. There is a great beach but note that the beach is a couple km from the campground. The boat launch is a short walk from the campground. Be aware that there is no electricity and no cell service at the park as of 2023. There are also no electric vehicle charging stations between the park and Prince George. There is a really nice new playground at the campground.
What a beautiful campground. Very well maintained and large private lots. Only stayed one night. Camp host was very helpful. Highly recommended.
Sites are always clean and well maintained. A very picturesque Provincial Park. Purden lake is great for swimming from mid June right up until around the beginning of October - weather permitting. Only about 30 minutes East of town. A lot of locals frequent the campsites on weekends, so it fills up fast. I have never personally, not found a spot to camp in, but it sure helps if you can claim a site on a Thursday or early Friday. My only complaint is that the sites can be a bit small, and accommodating a larger RV can be tricky, so they need to be expanded and updated as we all seem to be getting into bigger travel trailers lately... The shining star of this park has definitely got to be the care and attention put into maintaining the camp sites by the park staff. I want to high-five them every time, as our sites are always spotless, and I have witnessed some pretty disrespectful camping habits over the years that would make cleanup hard. Do not expect power, water and sewage hookups out here though, and there is no cell service, so this is dry camping at its best. Though NOT having those things is a BONUS for me as it usually results in quality family time and outdoor enjoyment without being tethered to electronics. A real local gem, IMO!
Love everything but the firewood . Private sites , good swimming and fishing , trails to walk the dog , lots of space for your kids to ride bikes and meet new friends . Fresh water and sani dump on site. Firewood should be cheaper and more available. Bring your own wood
Has a dog beach which was amazing for my pup to learn how to swim!
