The most wonderfully relaxing park for families to enjoy boating and fishing. (Keep in mind that it’s for fishing, so quiet is key. No swimming, skiing, wet bikes, etc.) However, if you’re willing to relax, get in touch with your Chi, and unwind, there is a playground, picnic tables, and incredibly helpful staff available who are more than happy to give guidance.
Stayed here during Xmas in our Rv. Beautiful, quiet, and the showers are super clean and extremely hot! They have water and electric hook ups almost at every campsite. Sadly, no sewer hook up, but there are 2 dump station on property as your leaving, they do offer non hook up sites for a lower cost. Staff and camp host were extreamly polite and helpful to any questions, they do offer ice and fire wood bundle at the check in building which was very convenient. Beautiful views on every end of the lake, so sad to have to go but can't wait for our next stay. Update: decided to stay a little longer cause we rented kayaks and explored more, this was truly a wonderful experience for our family. They kids learned how to kayak and our little ones learned to cast thier pole out, this place has plenty of trails to hike and it's also very good for bikes, they also have off road trails for the more experienced bikers 😉
Came to visit in October and the water level was low. Not too cold still to swim. Call ahead to ask water level. The playground was out of service because it’s a water playground and the water was too low to use. We didn’t know that before arriving. Sadly we weren’t too happy with this place. There was a lot of trash on the beach area as well. Tons of bugs. The view is amazing but not an ideal beach day kind of lake. Pete are welcome here to that’s nice however, I also found a poop bag on the beach that some irresponsible person left 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️. Call ahead for sure before your visit. Maybe a good place to ONLY paddle or kayak for the day. Bring your own or rent them here.
I'm making this review to hopefully help out anyone who is visiting Zion and is hoping to do some trout fishing without having to drive very far. We visited in mid November and stayed at auto camp just outside of the west entrance to Zion, after a lot of research I found that there were really only 2 options for trout fishing within an hour of us. One being kolob reservoir and the other here at quail Creek reservoir. After talking to locals it seemed that kolob was the preferred spot for trout fishing, but some things to take into account are kolob reservoir is at something like 8500 feet, so when I checked the weather that morning it would be a high of 28 degrees. Also kolob reservoir only allows artificial lures between something like January through May and September through December "please check exact dates for yourself". So based on this we choose quail Creek reservoir. We went here and we paid the daily entrance fee and I purchased a non resident fishing license online. The lady at the front advised us our best bet was to park at the end near the boat ramp and walk in towards the rocks and trees. We did just that and after trying all different colors of power bait with no success, eventually I tried chartreuse garlic power bait and once I did we caught fish non stop. I lost count of how many fish we caught because the action just never stopped. No giants or trophy sized fish but we caught beautiful average size trout all day long. All successfully caught and released.
If you’re looking to have a great time on the water this is the place to go. You have everything you could want to do within the state park here.Looking to relax on the beach and hangout with friends, this is a great place to go. You have dig paddle sports there renting kayaks, paddle boards and canoes, Lilly pads and more. Dig will even take you on a guided tour around the lake on your choice of a water toy and go for a hike to see some of the beautiful rock formations and views that the lake has to offer. Don’t miss out visiting this place, you won’t be bummed or disappointed if you do. Great service, great amenities and plenty of fun for what ever it is you want to do.
