Quality Inn Waddling Dog

Stayed here because our flight was cancelled, there was a snow storm so didn't have many options. But we picked this location because it had a pub and we needed food and drinks after being stranded at the airport all day. Room was 236 with free breakfast so we thought it was great deal. We get here and the whole place smells old and musty. When we checked in, we asked where the pub was, oh it's closed because the chef didn't show up.... literally everyone who showed up from the airport wanted that pub. They missed out on so much money seriously. Anyway, the rooms are super nice but again, smells like mildew. I'm allergic so I was sneezing and needing my inhaler. But the beds are super comfortable. Got the free breakfast the next morning and it was so bad. Literally everything was stale. The English muffins I could barely cut because the bread was so hard. The bacon tasted like old meat. Eggs had no seasoning. And the hash browns had a good flavor but also were hard, like they had been cooked already and then reheated. Gave me a huge stomach ache. Service was good though throughout the stay. But for 236 dollars, I would at least want a good breakfast.

Pleasantly surprised by this place. Large rooms, clean, quiet, strong and stable WiFi and more amenities. The bedding was spotless and very comfortable with lots of pillows to choose from. The front desk staff was very helpful and having a free breakfast was a plus. We will definitely be staying here again. The attached Pub had good food and drinks as well. Thank you for a lovely experience.

This was our third visit to the Waddling Dog and we keep returning because this little place has everything we need: clean rooms, friendly service, and the coziness of a country murder mystery. I always feel calm and peaceful at Waddling Dog and let the quiet carry me away after a tiring day of sight-seeing. The Pub is highly rated so I never miss a game- they play them all. It is about 30 min from downtown Victoria and 15 min from Butchart Gardens.

Very nice people. Rooms are updated and clean. The bed was comfortable. The bed sheets and towels smell slightly of strawberry.

This hotel is new, clean, attractive and near all amenities-restaurants, ferries, airport but I put service low because the associated pub sucks. Went for supper, waited for 20 minutes to be told to sit where I want! The tables were dirty; when I told the fellow, he acknowledged, sprayed the table right in front of me, got sidetracked and left…without cleaning the table! When the waitress finally came, she told me, “ oh sorry, the kitchen is closed’! Couldn’t have told me at the beginning? And now, the surrounding restaurants were closed. I’m reluctant to give three stars only but, jeez, get better than a high school student as manager.
