Sites were nice and fairly level. Shade from the many trees on site. Owners were very pleasant and helpful. The view of the mountains is wonderful out the front and the Columbia river runs behind. We had a lovely quiet stay here; no dodgy hook ups or electrical problems like we’ve had in other parks. Even had a tiny laundry that I used. Showers were clean and well kept. I don’t know how to do the rest of the review below, because it wasn’t a hotel, it was an RV park.
Great Park! The reception was great! The sites are a nice size and the one we got had a built in shelter which was great for sun or rain protection. The facilities were very clean! The view of the mountains from our site was amazing!
I asked the owner if it would be ok to leave before 7am as weather was going to be +35 and we wanted to get an early start hiking and I was told 10pm-7am was “quiet time”. The train basically runs right through the campsite and is on a curve so is incredibly loud and woke us 3 times during “quiet time”. I had paid for two nights but did not stay a second night and found a much nicer free site elsewhere.
We called in to let them know we were 5minute late for the gate time, their web site says call if you’re coming after 10pm. She laughingly told us their on Alberta time even if the campground is located in BC; meaning we were actually 1hour and 5min late. We had some troubles along the road that put us behind. She giggled and all jolly told us were coming to a locked gate and when we then asked for a full refund she refused this as she was mockingly being rude and treated us like absolute garbage. As last review that’s posted a week ago they will not accommodate anyone and I will highly recommend anyone to choose a campground that aren’t run by people who laugh in your face due to time difference and lost money along with having to find another campground 9pm same evening.
Pros: cheap, remote location, private, good tent spots with shrubs, guy at the front office is super nice Cons: insanely loud (and long) trains that go by the site every 2-3 hours, so many mosquitos and wasps it was unbearable, showers are coin operated (doesn't tell you that anywhere on the site so I had no change for it when I got there) I've read so many of these reviews and honestly am stunned no one is upset about the train. Maybe because I was in a tent it was worse for me but genuinely it kept me up all night. It shook the ground I slept on and was so loud that even a pillow over my head couldn't help. We were in site 5 which was about the equivalent of a street block away from the train. It was horrible and there were still 4-5 sites closer to the train than mine. We left after the first night because between the train, the wasps, and the mosquitos we couldn't even enjoy the campsite. I wish the website mentioned the train, or at least just showed it on their map, or mentioned the showers... I drove 6 hours for a break from the city and the noise and was up all night from it so unfortunately it was just awful and ended up being a massive waste of money.
