R & R Campground and RV Park Introduce

Introduction / Overview: Your Practical Pit Stop on I-90 in Mitchell

For many South Dakota residents and travelers crossing the state via Interstate 90, **R & R Campground and RV Park** in Mitchell serves as a wonderfully convenient and practical stopover location. Situated right off the main interstate artery, this campground specializes in providing the essentials for those needing a quick, no-fuss place to rest, recharge, and get back on the road. The emphasis here is on **convenience, easy access, and fundamental services**—making it an ideal choice for RVers, campers, and travelers on a timeline.

Located in the bustling city of Mitchell, home to the world-famous Corn Palace, R & R Campground offers a simple, straightforward layout with many pull-through sites designed to accommodate even the largest rigs without the hassle of unhooking. While experiences vary regarding its amenities—with some changes noted over time—its core function remains: a reliable and friendly place to stop for a night or two while exploring the area or continuing your journey across the plains. Guests consistently highlight the friendly staff and the exceptional ease of accessing the park from I-90 Exit 332.

Location and Accessibility: Right Off the Interstate in Mitchell, SD

The most significant advantage of R & R Campground and RV Park is its highly accessible location, perfect for travelers needing minimal deviation from their route.

The physical address is: **1700 S Burr St, Mitchell, SD 57301, USA**.

  • Interstate Access: The park is located just moments from **I-90 Exit 332**, providing exceptionally easy on-and-off access, which is invaluable for large RVs and those traveling late in the day.
  • Local Proximity: Despite its roadside convenience, the campground is remarkably close to local Mitchell attractions, including the famed **World's Only Corn Palace**, as well as essential shopping and dining establishments such as major retailers and restaurants.
  • Finding the Entrance: Travelers should note that the campground often shares its entrance area with an adjacent motel (Super 8), which is common for roadside campgrounds. Watching for the specific signage is recommended to ensure a smooth arrival.

The location is generally praised for its balance of easy interstate access and minimal road noise, allowing for a surprisingly peaceful rest despite the proximity to the highway.

Services Offered: Essential RV and Travel Amenities

R & R Campground focuses on providing the foundational services that modern travelers require, ensuring a comfortable stay, especially for those in self-contained units.

  • Full Hookups: The campground offers numerous sites with **full hookups**, including **water, sewer, and electricity (30 Amp and 50 Amp)**, essential for any extended RV stay.
  • Pull-Through Sites: A large number of the sites are **pull-through**, which makes parking and departing extremely easy for big rigs, preventing the need to disconnect your tow vehicle.
  • Laundry Facilities: Clean, on-site **laundry facilities** are available, a welcome service for travelers on a long road trip.
  • Restrooms and Showers: **Restrooms and showers** are provided on-site, which previous guests describe as clean and serviceable, though not always modern or 'fancy.'
  • Connectivity: **Wi-Fi service** is typically available across the park for guests to stay connected.
  • Pet-Friendly Policy: The campground is **pet-friendly**, allowing travelers to bring their beloved companions along.
  • Waste Disposal: A central **dump station** is available for use by registered campers.

Features / Highlights: Added Value and Accessibility

Beyond the basic services, R & R Campground offers a few features that enhance the guest experience, particularly its valuable proximity to other services.

  • Neighboring Hotel Amenities: A unique highlight is the ability to often access the amenities of the adjacent hotel, specifically the use of a **swimming pool** (though prospective guests should confirm availability, as this has been an inconsistent feature according to past reviews). This is a fantastic perk for cooling off during the hot South Dakota summers.
  • Shaded Sites: Many sites benefit from **mature shade trees**, providing natural cooling and comfort during the warmer months, a significant plus when camping.
  • Proximity to Corn Palace: Its short drive to the **World's Only Corn Palace**—one of South Dakota’s most unique attractions—means you can easily fit in a quick visit before moving on.
  • Small Playground: A modest **playground** area, typically consisting of a couple of swings, is available for younger children to enjoy a quick break from the road.
  • Level Gravel Sites: The majority of the sites are **level and graveled**, providing a stable and reliable pad for setting up your RV or trailer quickly.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Restrooms and showers were not fancy but decent enough. We were able to get ice from the hotel next door and use the swimming pool. Price was great for just needing an overnight stay along the interstate.

All I can say that's positive about this rundown campground is that it had pull-through sites and an easy-to-find location. That's all I can say. Looked for Good Sam campgrounds in our Campground book, saw this one that advertised a pool..none, cable...nope, you have to set up an account and rent a "box" with $100 refundable deposit but it was too late for us, playground..a couple swings, showers, laundry...nope, neither one...Definitely would NOT stay here again.

Never stayed but have called anyone here staying thru winter would be better off going to rondees. This place is not a good deal was told no laundry .no showers.no water in winter .and 900 for a room at hotel in winter for winter full timers I can rent a trailer for that .and rondees open with electric .good wifi .fiffty dollars less a month plus heated shower/bathrooms .and a laundry room cheaper than the laundromat would not recommend this place 😑

We have stayed here before, but the place is going down hill, still in the acceptable range. Restrooms need a lot of work, no exhaust fan. Done was wide open this morning. We will stay again, maybe, price is right, but we may use our own showers

We were traveling the holiday weekend, and our other campsite reservation fell through. We were scrambling to find a place to stay, and despite the late hour, the owner was responsive and got us squared away. We were so thankful that we were able to find a spot at the last minute.
