We were in Porterville and decided on our way back to LA. We would go through the mountains and check out a timeshare called R Ranch of the Sequoias. This is a lovely rustic place in the Sequoias by a beautiful lake. You do have to drive through winding mountain roads to get to it so be prepared for a bit of a trip up from Bakersfield if you’re coming from that direction. They have a very nice general store with all kinds of groceries and gift items. I would recommend visiting their website to check out the visuals of the place. I think they may be most active with events in the summer. Again, it is a timeshare so if you’re looking for a beautiful quiet place to spend a couple of weeks up in the mountains, this just might be your spot.

Private Time Share. Great Rustic Cabins. Great Mountain Location.
First of all this is not a glamping all inclusive modern kind of cabin place. This is a rustic get away from it all with running water, electricity, and basic needs. No cell reception and they just added wifi 2 years ago kinda place. We go here to disconnect and forget time. I was introduced to this place through my wife's family. They have been coming here since she was born. It's become a place we now bring our family and friends. We come to get away from the city, live in traditions and create some new ones. We come between 3-5 times a year. We've stayed in nearly every cabin over the last 30 years. They have great activities like bingo nights, live bands on the weekends and holidays, horses to ride, pool and jacuzzi, firing range, rec center, arts/crafts, fire pits, row boats. Not everything is always available at times due to the seasons and weather but that's understandable. There are trails and other areas to explore in the area and Kernville is just 40 min down the mountain.
