Ramsey Canyon Cabins & Bird Sanctuary

I just happened upon this place after going to Ramsey Canyon Preserve (just up the road). I was a bit disappointed in the lack of birds there and was heading home when I saw the welcoming signs for Ramsey Canyon Cabins and Bird Sanctuary. I was greeted at the gate by Greg, the owner, who enthusiastically told me about his property and showed me around. I was amazed at the amount of birds flying around and just about got whiplash trying to see them all. Of course, the reason is because he has many feeders out and the birds have found a safe and welcoming place to live and feed. I got 11 lifers, including 4 types of hummingbirds I've never seen (6 in all)! Greg is an incredible host and checked in on me several times to answer any questions or give suggestions to find certain birds. There were several flocks of Gould's Turkeys taking advantage of the spilled birdseed and many deer walking about. The land is absolutely beautiful, and I would have loved this place even if I wasn't a birder. Greg has several cabins and trailer sites available so I'll definitely be coming back to stay a few days. For a $10 charge, I would highly recommend Ramsey Canyon Camps and Bird Sanctuary.

Wonderful place to see turkeys deer and Hummingbird. We also saw Inca doves a White Winged Doves, Bush tits Bridled Titmouse, titmouse lesser Goldfinch Spotted towhees in Acorn woodpeckers. We walked through lovely paths in the forest of alligator junipers Oaks and sycamores. The hosts, Jen and Greg, were gracious.

I had a lovely, calming and rejuvenating stay at the Tranquil Hummingbird cabin. The property was ideal for gentle nature walks and quiet reflection. The flora and fauna were gorgeous, and it was an easy walk to the Ramsey Canyon preserve where I also went daily. I definitely look forward to returning and recommend this site for anybody who wants time in a cozy cabin near beautiful birdwatching and peaceful nature.

Our Cowboy Cabin cottage was clean, very comfortable, furnished to feel like home. The surroundings were beautiful with wild turkey and deer roaming the property. There were lots of bird feeders and outdoor seating spots along the trails. The AZ Folklore Preserve and Ramsey Canyon Nature Preserve were a short walk away, another big plus!

Our family, two adults and a teenager, had a lovely experience. We went hiking and mountain biking just down the road around Brown Canyon Ranch. Tons of deer and turkeys came by the cabin and were friendly. We really liked the mountain views from the patio. The cabin was comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. We would come again.
