Ramsey Park Campground Introduce
🏕 **Introduction / Overview: Camping in Minnesota’s “Little Yellowstone”**
Ramsey Park Campground, nestled within the expansive **Alexander Ramsey Park** in Redwood Falls, is a truly remarkable destination for Minnesota campers. Often nicknamed the **“Little Yellowstone of Minnesota,”** this 256-acre park holds the distinction of being the largest municipal park in the state. It offers a stunning blend of natural beauty, historical structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s, and a wide array of family-friendly amenities.
The campground itself is a comfortable, well-equipped base for exploring all the park has to offer, from the famous **Ramsey Falls** to four miles of scenic trails and a unique municipal zoo. It caters wonderfully to both RV enthusiasts and tent campers, boasting **31 individual sites with 50-amp electrical hookups** and a dedicated tent camping area.
However, potential visitors should be aware of a specific external factor: the presence of a nearby gun club. While the park itself is clean and beautiful, one review noted that the noise from the gun club can be **“very loud and nonstop”** during certain weekday afternoons and evenings, which can detract from the peaceful natural sounds. Local knowledge suggests this is primarily an issue on some weekdays for club events, not a constant all-day, every-day occurrence. Despite this external noise concern, the park's internal qualities—including its beauty, cleanliness, and facilities—remain highly rated.
For RVers, the campground easily accommodates large units, with one satisfied camper stating their **"43 ft 5th wheel"** fit nicely, and they found excellent connectivity, working remotely using a strong **"4-5 bar cell signal."** This blend of modern utility and natural setting makes Ramsey Park an attractive option for Minnesota residents seeking a comfortable, activity-rich outdoor getaway.
📌 **Location and Accessibility: A Redwood Falls Gem**
Ramsey Park Campground is conveniently situated within Alexander Ramsey Park, located on the northwest side of Redwood Falls, MN. The official address is clear and easy to navigate to:
- **Ramsey Park - Cansayapi Park-**
 - **99 E Oak St, Redwood Falls, MN 56283, USA**

The park's location provides excellent accessibility. It is a short drive from the center of Redwood Falls, allowing campers quick access to local shops and resources. The internal park trail system, consisting of **four miles of paved trails**, provides an easy walking link to many of the park's key landmarks, including the Swayback Bridge, Ramsey Falls, and the zoo area. This centralized location makes it an ideal spot for visitors who want to enjoy deep nature walks without being completely disconnected from the local community.
Crucially for modern campers, the location supports excellent mobile connectivity. The ability to maintain a **4-5 bar cell signal** makes it an ideal spot for those needing to work remotely or stay reliably connected during their stay, which is a major advantage over more remote Minnesota campgrounds.
🛁 **Services Offered: Comfort and Convenience**
Ramsey Park Campground is designed for a comfortable stay, offering key services that cater to both modern RV needs and traditional tent camping:
- **RV Electrical Hookups:** The campground offers **31 individual sites** with robust **50-amp electrical hookups**, ensuring power for all sizes of recreational vehicles, including large units up to 43 feet.
 - **Modern Restroom and Shower Facilities:** Visitors benefit from **modern restroom facilities with hot showers**, a significant convenience that enhances the overall camping experience.
 - **Water and Disposal Station:** City water access is available near the restroom facilities, and a **sanitary disposal station** (dump station) is conveniently located for RV units upon leaving the campground. The dump station fee is included for campers but available for a small fee for non-campers.
 - **Cellular Service:** Confirmed strong **4-5 bar cell signal** is a major benefit for guests who need reliable phone and data connectivity.
 - **Pet-Friendly Environment:** Pets are welcome, though owners must ensure they are **leashed and attended to at all times** and that all pet waste is properly cleaned up.
 - **Tent Camping Area:** A separate, designated area is available for tent camping on a **first-come, first-serve basis**.
 - **Reservations:** Electrical sites are available for reservation, while tent sites operate on a first-come, first-serve basis with payment via a night drop box.

🌲 **Features / Highlights: Nature, History, and Wildlife**
The campground's location within Alexander Ramsey Park provides access to an exceptional list of features, making it a well-rounded Minnesota destination:
- **Ramsey Falls:** The picturesque waterfall is one of the park’s most beloved natural attractions, easily accessible from the campground via the scenic trail system.
 - **Extensive Trail System:** The park boasts over **four miles of paved and unpaved hiking trails**. These trails are perfect for walking, jogging, and exploring the heavily wooded park, leading through deep ravines and across the Redwood River and Ramsey Creek via picturesque bridges, including the historic **Swayback Bridge**.
 - **Ramsey Park Zoo:** A unique feature for a municipal park campground, the small zoo includes animals like **bison, elk, deer, and prairie dogs**, adding an engaging, family-friendly activity.
 - **Historical Infrastructure:** The park is enhanced by charming, durable structures, shelters, and bridges constructed by the **CCC in the 1930s**, lending a rich historical feel to the landscape.
 - **The Quiet vs. The Loud:** While the park is noted for its beauty and the soothing sounds of nature along the river, it is essential to highlight the nearby **gun club**. Visitors should be prepared for **intermittent, loud gunfire noise on some weekdays**, particularly in the late afternoon and early evening, as experienced by previous campers. This is a known external factor and should be considered when booking for peak relaxation or during specific weekday times.
 - **Little Free Library:** A small, community-focused touch that provides additional on-site entertainment and reading material for campers.

You get the convenience of **50-amp full hookups and modern showers** combined with the allure of a natural wonder, including the cascading Ramsey Falls and an extensive, well-maintained trail network.

Customer Reviews
The park is beautiful! It’s clean with great amenities, I honestly really like it. Unfortunately there is a gun club very close by that pops off all day long, into the evening. It would be nice to enjoy the sounds of nature and relax, but the gunfire is very loud and nonstop. Nothing is wrong with the park itself, but it’s just not a quiet place to relax. I asked on a facebook camping group if they heard this noise before or if it was just today and they say the sounds are just some weekdays for events at the club. The gunfire went from 3pm to 9pm, Nonstop. Then I was harassed and threatened online by some members of the club for asking if this was a firework event or gun range that was so loud (I didn’t know) and they thought was complaining about guns (I wasn’t) so be careful, there are some very sensitive men with guns in the area. I simply asked if it was a fireworks event or gun range, and if it was a common occurrence, and members began harassing. Go ahead and shoot guns in a gun range, that’s great, I didn’t expect the constant sounds while camping because I didn’t know a gun range was next door.
We brought our 43 ft 5th wheel here and found the park fit our needs nicely. I worked from the RV using the 4-5 bar cell signal. When I wasn't working, I enjoyed the Park's hiking trails with my family.

Camping at Ramsey Park Ramsey Park’s campground is the perfect place to plan your next getaway. Our camping season runs from May to mid-October. The campground has 31 sites with both 30 & 50 amp electrical hook-ups available for reservations. The campground has a limit of 5 nights stay per visit. Great campground. Can and well kept. Clean shower rooms nice playground and shelter.
Lots of trails for walking. There's a mini zoo to see. Showers and bathrooms are decent and clean. Campsites have electric but no water hookup. There is a dump station on site as well as a place to fill your water. My 34ft camper fit well in the campsite. Bring your bug spray as you're surrounded by woods and a river. Dog friendly but they must be on leash
