Ranger Creek Campground Introduce
Ranger Creek Campground, located near Enumclaw, Washington, falls under the Campgrounds & RV Parks category and serves as an option for local users seeking camping opportunities near the national park. Situated on an old airfield, it offers spaces for both tents and campers on a first-come, first-served basis.
Environment: The campground is located in a beautiful area and offers spacious campsites. Visitors can enjoy views of the river and observe some wildlife. A unique feature is the occasional sight of planes flying in, presumably related to the old airfield. The campground is surrounded by nature, providing a generally scenic backdrop for camping.
Services: Ranger Creek Campground is a no-reservation campground. There is a fee of $5 per day unless visitors have a Northwest Forest Pass, in which case camping is free. However, based on reviews, the facilities are limited. Only one vault toilet was definitively located near the entrance by one reviewer, and this structure was described as being in rough shape with a door that barely closes and no lighting. Its cleanliness is reportedly dependent on the previous user, suggesting infrequent maintenance. Other toilet structures on a different side of the campground were noted as appearing to be in better condition from a distance, but direct information about their state is not provided for all areas.
Features: The campground's proximity to the national park makes it a convenient alternative when the park is full or as a stop before entering. The spacious campsites can accommodate various camping setups. The natural beauty of the area, including the river and wildlife, is a significant draw. However, the access road to at least one section of the campground (where the airstrip is on the left) is a dirt road with potholes, making for a bumpy drive. A concerning issue reported by a visitor was the presence of human waste bags and other trash left at campsites by previous campers, indicating a lack of respect for the "pack it in, pack it out" principle and potential cleanliness issues at some sites.
Promotional Information: Local users looking for a potentially free or low-cost camping option near the national park might consider Ranger Creek Campground. It offers spacious sites in a beautiful natural setting with river views and wildlife. However, potential visitors should be aware of the reported limitations and condition of the vault toilet facilities, the rough dirt road access to some areas, and the potential for encountering trash left by previous campers. It is advisable to be self-sufficient regarding waste disposal and to exercise caution when using the facilities. Ranger Creek Campground is located off NF-7160, Enumclaw, WA 98322, USA. No phone number is provided in the given information; further details may be available through online resources or the Northwest Forest Service.

Nice spot to camp right before entering the national park or if the National park is full. There are plenty of spots spread around the old airfield. Spaces for tents or campers. Free with a north west forest pass otherwise 5$ per day, no reservations needed
Pros: Beautiful area, spacious campsites, some neat wildlife, nice to see the river and watch the planes fly in. Cons: We only located one vault toilet near the entrance to the campground. The vault toilet structure is in rough shape. Door barely closes, no lighting (not even a skylight) sign on door says it is only as clean as the last person who used it. So, I'm guessing it isn't looked after. We stayed on the side of the campground where the air strip is and toward the end of the loop. Other reviews mention sites on the other side and those toilet structures looked in better shape from a distance. You have to travel down a dirt road full of potholes (if the air strip is on your left). It makes for a bumpy ride and not one you want to repeat when you need the toilet. Previous campers left their bags full of human waste at our campsite and there was toilet paper bits hanging around a bunch of used tea bags and some broken glass. People obviously didn't respect the place or the pack it in, pack it out code. It was disgusting to be setting up camp and coming across people's human waste bags. I think the park or ranger service should take control of this place and the road should be repaired, the number of vault toilets increased and a dumpster situated so campers can dispose of waste when leaving the campground. I was debating whether to give this park a 3 or 4. The location to Tacoma and the scenery is great, but people ruin the place and other people's experience by leaving trash and human waste bags. Dispersed vault toilets throughout the campground and a dumpster for disposing of trash could probably help the campground be kept clean.
Great spot lots of trails you can hear the river dog friendly the only thing I could say was the restrooms are not always the most well kept and can get disgusting but they have both RV and tent spots
Nice base camp and explore Mount Rainier National Park. I had a park pass, so it was free otherwise it’s $5 a night. Lots of campsites on both sides of the airstrip with two sets of pit toilets on the left/east side of the runway as you enter. There’s also an area to camp with a pit toilet if you go straight instead of turning left towards the airstrip. One of the best features is the campsite runs along the White River so it’s a firm area to check out. I enjoyed the Skookum Flats trail which runs a long ways along the river. Lots of great trails you can get to from the campsite. Most sites are in the trees with a handful of site open to the sky for your solar. No cell service, but there is a visitor center with great WiFi about 2 miles south. And I had a signal at the Crystal Mountain Resort. The only downside is the massive potholes on the dirt roads. You can’t go more the 5 mph and my trailer even scrapped the ground on a few of them. I would go here again and recommend it to others.
This place is so beautiful! The best for camping or just getting out. It really isn’t much as f a drive can’t wait to go back out with nature
