Loved this campground. The owner is really nice and will make you feel welcome. He even changed our site to river view which made the trip even better. The tubing was fun and getting a ride back to the campsite was like going on a safari. Only suggestion would be a flushable toilet and bath house of some sort. Its a proper primitive site with portable toilet and out house so make plans accordingly. Would definitely go back for the tubing. Site 40 has really cool river view.
A wonderful place to visit! The folks who run it are super nice. The camping spaces are a good size, and they have fire rings and picnic tables. I can’t wait to visit in the spring and summer. Thanks yall for a great little escape even if it was just a day.
I was looking for a quiet out of the way stay for one night, wished it could've been longer now that I have found a great campground. I was solo and felt nothing bad upon approaching and during my stay. I'd like to mention, the vault toilets and Jon's that they use are fairly clean and we're a little on the full side, but I went in early November and they wasn't seeing a lot of use so the one that was unlocked was sufficient. I am sure the price of cleaning more often is up there. I'm just thankful for the reasonable rate, the quiet, and the great experience. I will be back for more stays. Thanks, Rappahanock River Campground, for a pleasant night out. Two thumbs 👍 and 5 stars 🌟
What a great campground! We are so happy we found it after going to another campground that was so awful, we couldn’t even stay. We had to find a hotel for the night so we could search for another campground the next day. What Good fortune for us that we found this! Really friendly and accommodating staff. I was prepared for the staff to just pick out 2 sites for us sight unseen, but the staffer insisted on taking us around for a tour so we could pick the perfect site. We had 13 campers, 3 dogs and 7 tents and we had a blast. Can’t wait to return. I do wish the toilets were not so full- not sure when they are pumped but they were otherwise tidy and supplied. They posted signs that asked that the seat be closed after use, which was quite civilized.
It was a wonderful weekend! My birthday went great in this place! We went tubing down the river, found great places for a beach holiday, fished, sang songs around the campfire. The camp staff were very polite and always ready to help with all our questions. We were very pleased. Our children still ask us to come back to this wonderful place!
