Introduce

For local users seeking an exceptional camping destination within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, Rathtrevor Beach Campground, located at 1240 Rath Rd, Parksville, BC V9P 1T4, Canada (phone: (250) 474-1336 or +1 250-474-1336), stands out as a highly regarded provincial site on Vancouver Island.

Praised by visitors as "one of the best provincial sites," Rathtrevor is noted for its popularity, which can make securing a spot challenging, especially during peak seasons when reservations are typically required. However, as one reviewer experienced during the shoulder season (spring break before reservations and late September), finding a nice campsite without a reservation might be possible.

A key feature of Rathtrevor Beach Campground is the size and privacy of its campsites, described as "huge sites" with "lots of privacy." This spaciousness contributes to a more enjoyable and secluded camping experience. The campground also boasts "excellent amenities," although specific details of these amenities are not provided in the reviews beyond clean bathrooms and showers.

Rathtrevor is highlighted as "very family friendly," making it an ideal destination for families looking to enjoy the outdoors. A significant draw is the "gorgeous beach," offering opportunities for relaxation and recreation along the coastline.

Beyond the beach, the campground features "plenty of walking trails" that can be enjoyed when the tide is high and exploring the beach is not possible. When the tide recedes, visitors can experience "fabulous walking on the tidal flats," providing a unique coastal environment to explore.

In summary, Rathtrevor Beach Campground offers local users a premier camping experience characterized by spacious and private campsites, excellent (though unspecified) amenities, a beautiful beach, and access to walking trails and tidal flats. While its popularity may make securing a reservation necessary during peak times, those fortunate enough to get a spot can anticipate a memorable and family-friendly coastal camping getaway.

Rathtrevor is one of the best provincial sites, which is why it is so tough to get into. I was passing through before the reservations kicked in (spring break) and found a spot easily. Huge sites, lots of privacy, and excellent amenities make this a premier camping destination. Very family friendly…and a gorgeous beach round off Rathtrevor. If you can get a spot, consider yourself lucky!

Great campground. It’s big and we had no trouble finding a nice pitch without reservations in late September. Plenty of clean bathrooms and showers. Pitches are well spaced. Many have enough vegetation around to provide some privacy. Plenty of walking trails when the tide is too high to walk out on the beach. When the tide is out, fabulous walking on the tidal flats.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rathtrevor Campground. The campsites are beautifully located among the trees and we were just a short distance (1 minute walk?) from the beach. Gorgeous sunsets and lots of paths for walking along the beach area or in the forest. We'll be back!

We have camped here several times over the past 30 years. We have a tent trailer so the camping reservation website sent us to an area we had not been before. Three of the large day use parking areas have been converted to trailer/RV camping. Back- in sites have been defineded by split rail fences. Not many trees close to the sites for shade. Pretty open and not particularly private but the nature of RV's is that they are self-contained and most people are friendly but outside of their site. The upside is you are steps to the beach which is what we come here for. The beach never disappoints.

No dogs on the beach. What a joke.
