This isn't a bad campground but I didn't love it. Beautiful views but kind of barren. I'd guess, however, that most places around here are. Not a lot of trees and not a lot of shade. That's ok. You can play in the water to keep cool. The thing that I really didn't like was just how rocky the ground was. We found it impossible to put in 8 stakes for our family tent; some would go in but, inevitibly, others wouldn't even start. Maybe it was just our site. The others from our group in the adjacent site didn't complain.
One of my absolute favorite camping places. The views 50ft from the campsite were breathtaking
Closest to the visitor center and the main paved road. This cg is older than canyon rim cg and paved road is broken up potholes. Sites are smaller and more for tent and truck/van campers, but small TTs could find a spot or two maybe.
Level sites and nice pit toilet but shouldn’t a developed campground that you’ve paid for have running faucets in July? Seems a little forgotten about.
The campground is within a few hundred feet of an almost vertical look down into the red rock canyon of Flaming Gorge. Many of the campsites have trees and level tent spots. It can get hot there but much of the time it's very pleasant. Nearby are beautiful forest hikes and access to one of the prettiest lakes in the world is about 20 minutes away.
