Awesome little camp ground tucked away in the rocks. Not too many sites, but the area can get a little busy with hikers. I stayed in Site #4 for 3 nights in January, and it was the perfect size for my 23' travel trailer. There is no shade in the site, which is great for January, but would be very bad in the hotter months. **RVers beware: While there are water spigots at most of the sites, they are not the normal connection. They are about twice as large. Additionally, there are two spots where it looks like water could come out, one threaded and one not. For site 4, the water came out of the non threaded hole. So if you need water, either fill up beforehand or come with a tank or something to get the water to your RV. Overall, this is a great campground and definitely would stay again.
Beautiful campground. If you can snag a sight, do it! The hikes are all cool. Not many. You can do most in a day.
Beautiful location! The hikes were great, vault toilets and drinking water on site. It was HOT when we went, it is a desert climate after all. Some sites seem superior to others, and there are ants that come out in the evening. We had a hill of big black carpenter ants at our site that didn't really bother us, so we just made sure not to leave a mess.
I used to stay here every time I came thru here when the CG was all FCFS, but it was switched to all reservation only and most times the CG shows booked solid in spring and fall. Note that on a Sunday Eve only 5 sites seem occupied, but the Recreation app shows all 11 sites reserved. $15/$7.50 senior, 14d limit, water spigots, dumpsters and vault toilets. Cell signal is good on T-Mobile. Great hiking and MTB trails here, but no motorized use on these trails so the OHV crowd is absent, which is great. This CG also has a lot of local day use for the trails in the area.
Five stars for beauty, one for livability. We cowered from blasting June sun under the campsite 5 shelter, dousing shirts in water and watching tar melt and even the ants get too hot and retract, though there were still somehow other humans out recreating. Finally went home instead of waiting for midnight for the temp to fall enough below 100 that we could even think about taking a hike, much less lighting a fire or getting in a tent. Should’ve taken warning from the St George weather forecast and the Leeds Pioneer Cemetery.
