Location and Accessibility
The Red Lodge KOA Journey is ideally located at 7464 US-212, Red Lodge, MT 59068, USA. This strategic address places it approximately four miles north of the charming and historic town of Red Lodge. Red Lodge itself is renowned as the northern gateway to the iconic Beartooth Highway (US-212), frequently described as one of America's most scenic drives, and a vital route leading to the Northeast Entrance of Yellowstone National Park.
For Montana locals, the campground's accessibility is a significant advantage. From Billings, Montana's largest city in the eastern part of the state, the Red Lodge KOA Journey is approximately an hour's drive south on US-212. The campground's direct frontage on US-212 ensures easy access for all types of vehicles, including large RVs and those towing trailers, as it is situated between mile markers 74 and 75.
The reviews highlight its perfect position as a "home base for doing day trips" to Yellowstone National Park, which is "about an hour outside" (specifically, 73 miles from the Silver Gate entrance to Yellowstone). This means campers can enjoy the majestic beauty of the national park by day and return to the comfort and amenities of the KOA by evening. The owners are the most professional, friendly people you will ever meet. They love their campground and love helping others learn to love camping and exploring Montana. They were so welcoming and shared lots of tips on where to go, what to do, where to eat - EVERYTHING! The campground is located about an hour outside of Yellowstone and is the perfect home base for doing day trips or perfect stop on your way thru to other stops. We highly recommend this KOA.
Best KOA ever. The owners are the nicest people you could meet. The campground is beautiful and well maintained. The bathrooms and shower units are extremely clean. We stayed in a little cabin by a babbling brook. Can't wait for our next stay. Thank you Jason for taking the time to have a conversation with us. Eric and Susan from North Dakota.
Rebecca, I want to thank you for helping us and our other camping friends for accommodating us the way you did. You and your staff are so friendly and helpful. The showers/bathrooms were very clean along with the laundry room. We’ll definitely be back. Thanks again.
Friendly and great customer service in what would appear to be a family-owned and run type of operation. They were over-the-top helpful in all our needs! Highly recommend staying for RV-ers. I can't speak for tent camping or cabin renters.
This is a very nice park. Jason and his wife are very helpful and friendly. Good Christian folks. Park well kept and clean. Highly recommend and would stay there again. Also we'll stocked store.
