Red Springs Campground Introduce
Red Springs Campground is a hidden gem nestled within the scenic Ashley National Forest, located near Dutch John, UT. This charming campground offers a mix of rustic charm and breathtaking natural beauty, making it an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking an authentic camping experience in the heart of nature. Situated along US-191 and close to the Colorado River, Red Springs Campground provides easy access to a variety of outdoor activities while maintaining its remote, off-the-beaten-path feel.
The campground is part of the Forest Service, but it has been temporarily closed for rehabilitation. However, visitors can still enjoy the site as long as they adhere to any posted guidelines and regulations. Red Springs Campground boasts 13 well-spaced campsites nestled among Aspin pine trees, offering a serene setting for tent campers and RVs. The area is particularly popular for boondocking due to its remote location.
One of the standout features of Red Springs Campground is its natural environment. Surrounded by thick forest cover, the campground provides excellent shade and cooler temperatures, especially during the summer months. However, visitors should note that certain facilities may be limited or locked while the site undergoes rehabilitation. For instance, water availability might not always be guaranteed, and waste disposal options could be restricted. Additionally, cell service is minimal due to the remote nature of the location, which can be both a challenge and an opportunity for those looking to disconnect and immerse themselves in nature.
Red Springs Campground offers basic but essential amenities for campers. The sites are equipped with fire pits and picnic tables, perfect for outdoor cooking and dining under the stars. While some facilities may be limited during rehabilitation, the natural beauty of the area compensates for any shortcomings. The proximity to the Colorado River adds another layer of appeal, allowing visitors to enjoy river activities such as fishing or rafting.
What truly sets Red Springs Campground apart is its unique atmosphere. The combination of remote location, dense tree cover, and cooler temperatures makes it a haven for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. It’s particularly popular among visitors seeking an off-grid experience, with many praising the campground as a great spot for boondocking.
Customer feedback highlights both the positive aspects of Red Springs Campground and areas that could use improvement. Many guests appreciate the natural beauty and remote location, describing it as "a cool summer destination" and a great place for those who enjoy being off the grid. However, some visitors have noted that the site feels a bit run down, with limited access to basic amenities like water and waste disposal. Despite these challenges, most agree that the unique combination of factors makes Red Springs Campground worth visiting for those who are prepared for a more rugged camping experience.
For anyone planning a trip to Ashley National Forest or nearby areas, Red Springs Campground offers a distinct opportunity to connect with nature in a remote and beautiful setting. Whether you're a seasoned camper or someone looking to try boondocking for the first time, this campground provides an unforgettable outdoor adventure. Just be sure to check for any updates on site conditions before planning your visit, as some facilities may be temporarily unavailable due to ongoing rehabilitation efforts.

Looks nice, but seems it has been let run down a bit. FS sign notes the CG is free pending rehabilitation of the site. 13 sites tucked nicely into Aspen pine trees. However cell service is limited due to location. No water, dumpster was locked up..did not check the restroom assume it was locked.
