We loved this campground at Dead Horse Ranch State Park. It was absolutely beautiful. Peaceful, quiet, and dark at night. The trails were great for some quick and easy hikes with our small kids. The playground was fun and the bathrooms were always clean. It allowed easy access to many parks and scenic drives.
Google maps sent us to a long term dug up road detour on the way to Dead Horse Ranch Campground, Google did not supply any alternative route. We had to drive around Cottonwood,AZ towing an RV until we found a cop to tell us how to get around the detour to the campground. The campground is very nice.
Neat clean spot- and the trailer parking is decently spaced apart. Each site has a table and grill, and the communal dumpster at the front of the site. The trees provide some shade at some of the sites. They have a restroom area with an accessible ramp, and a ranger station that sells wood. I don't recall seeing any trails immediately accessible from this camp area, though the lagoons are about a 5-ish min from here.
Great hiking. Sites are well designed, staff is friendly and bathrooms were clean.
