Have driven past this location 100 times but never explored it. There's a small protected cove with a walkable sandy beach. As the tide comes in there's no much room left to walk so you have to step up to the parking and camping level. But when you're on the sand, there's no freeway noise. The camping area has about 65 spaces, all adjacent to each other. The best ones would be 34 or 35. Everyone (when I was there) was very civilized, with no load music, etc. In the camping areas you can hear the freeway noise above.
Beautiful beach and a lot of surfers! Camping available at 45.00 a night, not much shade but the views are incredible. 10.00 day pass
Quiet nice beach with great waves for surfing, lots of rocks to pick from, bbq grills, benches and a basketball court. Had a great family time.
Such an awesome place to camp. I loved the sunsets here. The palm trees are iconic of course! It makes you feel like you're in Hawaii, not California. The campground hosts were so friendly and helpful. Take a walk down the beach and your footprints might be the only ones you'll see. The showers and restrooms were pristine and well maintained. You gave a great view of the Channel Islands on a clear day. There's something for everyone. Basketball courts and playgrounds for the kids. You will often see people scuba diving here during the during the weekend and there's a fun little surf spot at the west end of the bay! I can't wait to go back. *11/11/24 Update. It's sad to see some of the palm trees they had to remove from the storm. Still this place is a highlight of my year to come visit.
I do love this beach. But… the bathrooms are normally a little dirty, the showers are covered in spiders. There’s tar on the sand. The waves are good for surfing if want small waves. Very family friendly with fun things to explore and parks.
