Relleumtdats Airventure Campground Introduce

Relleumtdats AirVenture Campground is a unique and privately-operated camping area that plays a vital role in accommodating visitors to the colossal EAA AirVenture Oshkosh event each summer in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Unlike the vast, official Camp Scholler managed by the EAA, "Relleumtdats" is a private property that transforms into a temporary campground, offering an alternative experience within the broader Campgrounds & RV Parks category for aviation enthusiasts. The name "Relleumtdats" is notably "Stadtmueller" spelled backward, referencing the family who owns the property and annually opens it for campers during the renowned airshow. This introduction will objectively detail the environment, services, features, and specific promotional aspects associated with this distinctive campground, providing insights for local users and attendees of EAA AirVenture.

The environment of Relleumtdats AirVenture Campground is characterized by its strategic location and its temporary nature. Situated directly across from the ultralight show entrance, it offers remarkably close proximity to a significant part of the EAA AirVenture grounds. The camping area itself is primarily a large, open grassy field, typically a farm field for most of the year, which is mowed and designated for camping during the event. While it may not boast the dense wooded sites found in traditional campgrounds, its openness provides clear views of the sky and the frequent aerial activity during AirVenture. Campers are immersed in the sounds and sights of aviation, from the gentle buzz of ultralights to the roaring engines of larger aircraft participating in the airshow. The atmosphere is vibrant and communal, filled with fellow aviation enthusiasts. Despite its temporary setup, efforts are made to maintain a clean and orderly environment. The proximity to the airport grounds means that while natural serenity might be secondary to aviation excitement, campers are literally steps away from the heart of the world's largest airshow, a feature that profoundly defines its environment.

As a private entity operating within the Campgrounds & RV Parks context during a major event, Relleumtdats AirVenture Campground focuses on providing essential services and goods with a straightforward approach. Most sites are considered "basic" or "dry camping," meaning they typically do not offer individual hook-ups for electricity, water, or sewer. Campers are generally expected to be self-sufficient regarding power (often relying on generators, within reasonable hours) and water supply. However, essential communal facilities are provided. This includes access to portable toilets (Porta-Potties) distributed throughout the campground, which are regularly serviced. While direct showers are not on every site, campers can access shower facilities located within the larger EAA AirVenture grounds (e.g., in Camp Scholler), often a short walk or shuttle ride away. Information from past attendees suggests the presence of a reasonably priced food truck on the campground, offering convenient meal options, supplementing the numerous food vendors available within the main AirVenture grounds. Some sources also mention the provision of community coolers for shared drinks, fostering a friendly communal spirit. Firewood and ice are usually available for purchase, allowing campers to enjoy traditional campfires. The campground also often provides dedicated staff or volunteers to manage the grounds and assist campers, contributing to a secure and organized environment.

The features of Relleumtdats AirVenture Campground are uniquely tied to its function as an overflow and alternative camping solution for EAA AirVenture attendees. Its paramount feature is its exceptional location, offering easy walking access to the ultralight show entrance and other parts of the AirVenture grounds. This convenience significantly reduces the need for parking and shuttles, a major advantage during such a crowded event. The campground is known for being particularly economical, offering a more budget-friendly camping option compared to some other choices during AirVenture. While the sites are generally unassigned upon arrival, allowing campers to choose their spot within the designated area (often a "first-come, first-served" approach for basic sites), this flexibility can be a feature for those who appreciate less rigid layouts. The strong sense of community is another defining feature, with campers often returning year after year to the same area, building camaraderie and shared traditions, such as the annual Brat Feed hosted by a specific group (e.g., Glasair Aircraft Owners Association). For motorcycle enthusiasts, Relleumtdats is particularly popular, with groups like the Airheads Beemer Club often choosing it as their base, highlighting its suitability for motorcycle camping. The ability to witness the daily airshows and aircraft movements directly from one's campsite, albeit at a distance compared to inside the gates, is a continuous and thrilling feature. While not equipped with amenities like playgrounds or extensive recreational facilities found in typical family campgrounds, its value lies in its proximity to the aviation spectacle and the community it fosters.

Promotional information for Relleumtdats AirVenture Campground is primarily spread through word-of-mouth among AirVenture regulars, aviation clubs, and enthusiast forums, rather than extensive commercial advertising. Key aspects highlighted include its advantageous location near the ultralight show entrance, its affordability compared to other options, and its "no reservations needed" (for basic sites) or "first-paid, first-served" policy which simplifies the booking process for many. Pricing is typically very reasonable, for example, around $10 per night for motorcycles and $20 per night for other vehicles, as noted by some enthusiast groups planning their stays. This makes it an attractive choice for those looking to manage their budget during the expensive AirVenture week. While not directly managed by EAA, the campground operates in coordination with the event. Specific event dates are often communicated, for example, opening for the period leading up to and during AirVenture (e.g., from a specific Tuesday in July through the Sunday after the show). It is often promoted by specific groups as a convenient and community-oriented base for their members. Given its temporary nature and focus on a specific event, detailed promotional materials like those for permanent campgrounds are less common. However, information about access, rules (e.g., speed limits, vehicle types allowed, generator use guidelines), and essential amenities like portable toilets and water fill/dump stations are crucial and conveyed to potential campers, often through club communications or direct inquiry. The campground’s commitment to providing a straightforward, no-frills, yet highly functional camping experience for AirVenture attendees is its strongest promotional message, appealing to those who prioritize location and community over luxury amenities. Prospective campers are encouraged to seek out information from EAA-related forums, aviation clubs, or direct contact with the property owners for the most accurate and up-to-date details for their specific AirVenture visit.

Water is very accessible here, I didn't think it would, but I'm very impressed! I believe there are also many opportunities to sit for people who can't walk for long. Another great thing I saw was that one of the trolleys was wheelchair accessible. Other than that, it is a rather gorgeous place in general.

The people in staff here are very friendly and were willing to let me park overnight during the event since I drove up and was camping with friends under the wing of a plane. This place deserves six stars in my book
