Residence Inn Palm Desert

Front desk attendant was not at all helpful when we arrived and requested an early check-in although the parking lot was close to empty. We arrived at 2:00 but were told it would be at least 4:30 before we could check-in. My husband had to find the housekeeping manager to help us secure a room so we didn’t have to wait for over two hours. Our room was clean but old and run down. The fridge had several dents, the dishwasher was not secured, the cabinets were scratched up, the dining chairs were broken down and too low for the table, and the shower door handle was very loose and about to fall off.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for our volleyball tournament at Palm Desert HS. Comfortable accommodations, fairly quiet, and we enjoyed the free breakfast offered in the morning. We'll consider staying here in the future, since it was only a 10-minute drive to the HS.

I’ve never stayed at a Marriott with such old furniture and carpeting. It almost felt like they had purchased items from a cheap motel chain or that the furniture was from 50 years ago. It was shockingly outdated. The sofa was so worn out that when we sat down, it felt like we were about to touch the ground. One of the beds was so old that it created a "V" shape, making it incredibly uncomfortable and bad for your back. When we arrived around 2 p.m., the hallway near the lobby had a strong beer smell that hadn’t been cleaned up from a recent event in the event room. It was very unpleasant and gave a bad first impression.

We had a great experience at this establishment. We made a mistake, they were so nice to honor it. Thank you. The manager and the staff were really nice. We are grateful for their hospitality after 22 hours of driving from Houston Tx. We will definitely be returning.

DISHONESTY ALERT - I made a reservation weeks ago and after 2 flights and a long day traveling over 12 hours arrived at 830pm to check in. But the clerk told me they cancelled my reservation because my card declined. I confirmed with my bank that my card did not decline, and asked why they tried to run my card before I arrived. The clerk then told me the hotel is full so earlier that day the manager "ran the credit cards" to see which rooms to cancel. She continued to insist my card declined, which was a bold-faced lie. She informed me they are not connected to any other hotels - despite being labeled Marriott - so can't send me anywhere else. So I'm looking for another hotel. Travelers beware of this Residence Inn, they will leave you stranded if it's convenient for them.
