Today, we're taking an in-depth, factual look at **Rest EZ Campground**, located in Minong, WI, to help you make an informed decision for your next outdoor excursion.
Understanding what to expect from any campground is key to a successful trip, and this overview aims to provide insights based on publicly available information and real customer experiences. From its location in the scenic Minong area to what has been shared regarding its operational style, we’ll delve into the details so you can determine if it aligns with your ideal camping experience.
---Nestled in the heart of Wisconsin's picturesque Northwoods, **Rest EZ Campground** is situated at **W6508 WI-77, Minong, WI 54859, USA**. This address places it in Washburn County, a region renowned for its dense forests, numerous lakes, and ample opportunities for outdoor recreation. Minong itself is a small town that serves as a gateway to some of the state's most cherished natural landscapes, making it a common destination for anglers, hikers, and those simply seeking a tranquil escape from urban life.
The campground's location on Wisconsin State Highway 77 suggests relatively straightforward accessibility for travelers arriving by vehicle. State Highway 77 is a major route through this part of Northern Wisconsin, connecting various smaller towns and providing access to larger highways. This means that reaching Rest EZ Campground from major population centers within Wisconsin, such as Madison, Milwaukee, or Green Bay, would typically involve a drive north on key interstates and state roads, transitioning onto WI-77 as you approach Minong. For those coming from Minnesota, particularly the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area, the drive would likely involve crossing the border and connecting to relevant state highways leading into the Minong area.
While the exact distance from specific Wisconsin cities varies, the general accessibility via state highways suggests that the campground is within a reasonable driving distance for a weekend trip or an extended vacation for many Wisconsin residents. The rural setting implies a certain level of peace and quiet, characteristic of the Northwoods experience, though the direct access off a state highway might also mean some proximity to traffic, depending on its specific placement along WI-77.
When planning your route, it's always advisable to consult a GPS or mapping application for the most current directions and estimated travel times. Keep in mind that rural roads can sometimes be less direct than major interstates, and it’s wise to account for this in your travel plans, especially if you're pulling a camper or RV.
---Based on publicly available information and customer feedback, the specifics regarding the services offered at **Rest EZ Campground** appear to revolve around the fundamental provisions of a camping facility. While a comprehensive list of amenities beyond basic site offerings is not extensively detailed in the provided data, we can infer some common services found at campgrounds of this nature, along with specific operational characteristics mentioned in reviews.
Camping Sites: As a campground, its primary service is the provision of camping sites. These typically include spaces for RVs, travel trailers, and potentially tent camping, though the exact types and capacities of sites are not specified in the provided information. Campgrounds generally offer various hookup options, such as electricity, water, and sometimes sewer, for RV sites. The availability and specific configurations of these hookups at Rest EZ Campground are not detailed.
On-site Management: The reviews frequently mention the owners, Kim and Bob, being present and actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the campground. This suggests that there is on-site management available to address guest needs, although the nature of these interactions, as described by customers, has varied significantly.
Rule Enforcement: A prominent theme in customer feedback indicates a strong emphasis on rule enforcement by the management. This implies that maintaining order and adherence to campground policies is a key operational focus. While rules are a standard part of any communal lodging, the extent and nature of their enforcement at Rest EZ Campground have been a notable point in customer experiences.
It's important to note that while many campgrounds offer additional services like bathhouses, laundry facilities, general stores, recreational areas (playgrounds, swimming areas, game rooms), or direct access to natural features (lakes, rivers, trails), these specific amenities for **Rest EZ Campground** are not detailed in the provided information. Potential visitors would need to inquire directly with the campground for a complete list of all available services and facilities.
---When considering the features and highlights of a campground, prospective campers often look for aspects that enhance their outdoor experience, provide comfort, or offer unique recreational opportunities. Based on the limited factual information and dominant themes from customer reviews concerning **Rest EZ Campground**, we can identify certain operational characteristics and environmental aspects that might be considered features.
Northwoods Location: One inherent feature of **Rest EZ Campground** is its geographical location in Minong, Wisconsin. The Northwoods region is celebrated for its natural beauty, including extensive forests, clear lakes, and abundant wildlife. This setting itself provides a backdrop for outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, hiking, and wildlife viewing in the surrounding areas. The proximity to this natural environment is a draw for anyone looking to experience Wisconsin's wilderness.
Direct Road Access: Being located directly on WI-77 offers easy access for travelers. This can be a convenience for those arriving with large RVs or trailers, as it minimizes the need to navigate complex or unpaved backroads. Straightforward access from a state highway is a practical feature for many campers.
On-site Owners/Management: The consistent presence of owners Kim and Bob, as noted in the reviews, means there's always someone on-site managing the campground. This can be viewed as a feature where there is always direct contact with management for needs, questions, or issues that might arise during a stay, though the nature of these interactions has been a point of feedback.
It is important to acknowledge that the provided customer reviews heavily emphasize certain operational "features" that have been highlighted in a negative light by previous visitors. These include:
Strict Rule Enforcement: Customers frequently mention an "endless list of rules" and "constant monitoring" by the owners. This indicates a very high level of vigilance regarding campground policies and guest behavior. For some campers, strict rules might be a deterrent to relaxation; for others, a well-structured and policed environment might be a preference if it ensures quiet and order.
Unwelcoming Atmosphere: Multiple reviews describe the management as "rude and unwelcoming," creating a "hostile environment" that reportedly made guests, including children, feel uncomfortable and unable to relax. This pervasive sentiment among reviewers suggests an atmosphere that has been perceived as less than inviting.
While the natural setting of Minong offers inherent appeal for outdoor enthusiasts, the operational style and atmosphere described in the customer feedback are significant "features" that prospective visitors would need to weigh in their decision-making process. The general quietness of the campground, as indicated by comments about it not being "filled," might also be a characteristic for some, though the underlying reasons for this would be based on individual interpretation.

---For Wisconsin locals seeking a camping destination, the decision of where to stay involves weighing various factors, from location and accessibility to the overall atmosphere and specific amenities. When considering **Rest EZ Campground** in Minong, WI, its suitability for locals can be viewed through the lens of its geographical advantages and the operational style highlighted in public feedback.
From a purely geographical standpoint, **Rest EZ Campground's** location in Minong is a significant draw for Wisconsin residents. The Northwoods of Wisconsin are a cherished natural playground, offering a quintessential regional outdoor experience. Locals often appreciate destinations that provide a genuine escape into nature without requiring excessive travel. Minong’s setting means easy access to a wealth of outdoor activities, including prime fishing lakes, extensive trails for hiking or ATV riding, and opportunities for wildlife observation. For those who prioritize being immersed in the natural beauty of Northern Wisconsin, this location is inherently appealing and convenient for a local getaway, whether for a weekend or a longer vacation.
The accessibility via WI-77 is another practical benefit for locals. Driving to a campground that is directly off a main state highway simplifies travel, particularly for those towing RVs or trailers. This straightforward route can reduce travel stress and make weekend trips more feasible for families and individuals living within the state.
However, it is crucial for local campers to consider the consistent themes emerging from customer reviews when assessing suitability. The feedback frequently describes an environment characterized by **strict rule enforcement** and a perceived **unwelcoming atmosphere**. For some locals, particularly those who seek a highly structured and quiet camping environment with clear boundaries, this operational approach might align with their preferences. Campers who value stringent adherence to rules and appreciate a closely managed property might find this aspect appealing, as it could contribute to a sense of order and security within the campground.
On the other hand, locals seeking a more relaxed, spontaneous, or family-centric atmosphere where children can freely explore without constant oversight might find the reported environment less suitable for their needs. The reviews suggest that the campground may not be ideal for those prioritizing a highly social or overtly "fun" atmosphere, especially for families with young children looking for a carefree outdoor experience.
In conclusion, **Rest EZ Campground** in Minong, WI, offers the advantage of a prime Northwoods location with convenient accessibility, appealing to Wisconsin locals who value being close to natural recreational opportunities. Its suitability ultimately depends on an individual's or family's specific camping preferences. If a highly regulated environment with clear rules and a hands-on management style is what you seek in a Northern Wisconsin camping experience, and your primary focus is on accessing the surrounding natural beauty, then a direct inquiry with **Rest EZ Campground** to ascertain current policies and offerings would be your next best step in determining if it is the right fit for your local adventure.

Customer Reviews
I recently stayed at Rest EZ Campground in Minong, WI, and it was an absolutely horrendous experience. I have to echo the sentiments of other reviewers who have had a bad experience. This place as nothing short of a prison camp. From the moment we arrived, the management was extremely rude and unwelcoming. The staff seemed more interested in enforcing arbitrary rules than ensuring guests had a pleasant stay. The list of rules was endless and unreasonable, making it feel like we were being constantly monitored and policed. It was impossible to feel relaxed or comfortable, Kim and Bob stop by constantly and your butt seriously puckers when you hear their UTV come by. The campground is not filled, which is telling. Despite claiming to be family-friendly, this place was anything but. My friend’s kids were afraid to even walk around the campground due to the hostile environment created by both the staff and other campers. Overall, Rest EZ Campground is a place I would never recommend to anyone. Save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else to stay. This place is more like a prison camp than a campground, and it completely ruined our trip.
**Awful Experience at Rest EZ Campground - Seasonal and Regular - Avoid at All Costs!** Our seasonal stay at Rest EZ Campground in Minong, WI, was a complete nightmare. So much so that we left after one month. The constant monitoring of all activities made it feel like we were under surveillance 24/7. It was impossible to relax or enjoy ourselves with the campground owners, Kim and Bob, policing our every move. Their behavior was incredibly unreasonable, especially when compared to other campgrounds we've stayed at. The name "Rest EZ" is completely misleading. There was nothing restful or easy about our time there. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that Kim and Bob were more interested in enforcing their endless list of rules than ensuring guests had a pleasant stay. The first time we had visitors, the owners arrived within 10 seconds, not with a friendly greeting, but with a stern lecture about how everyone needs to be registered and how they can't park where they were. It was an incredibly rude and unwelcoming experience. This was repeated each time we had visitors. I have many stories. The campground was not fun at all. There were very few kids around, and even my children noticed how unfriendly the place was. The atmosphere was oppressive, and it was clear that Kim and Bob's overbearing presence scared away families looking for a fun and relaxing time. Our friends were unjustly treated as well. The owners called the cops on them without any valid reason, creating an even more hostile environment. To make matters worse, Kim got in my friend's face during a confrontation, which was completely uncalled for and extremely intimidating. She yelled at me and my family and interrupted our family time on numerous ocxa. The experience was so horrendous that we decided to switch campgrounds after just one month. The final straw was the constant harassment and lack of any real rest or enjoyment. If you're looking for a campground where you can relax and have fun, avoid Rest EZ Campground at all costs. Our time there was more like a prison sentence than a vacation, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. There are plenty of other campgrounds where the owners are reasonable and the atmosphere is genuinely welcoming.
This place is great! We come here once a year and have never had anything other great hospitality. The first stay that we had with them we hit a snag on the way up and they helped us get settled at 9pm and in the Dark. the owners helped us unhook and get set up for the night. every other stay we have had they have been extremely helpful. I love the fact that they pay close attention to what is going on in the campground at all times. We have been too many places where the owners or grounds keepers are absent and its been nothing but parties and noise through out the night. The campground it clean and well groomed with a lot of great people that seem to be seasonal campers. wish i could give them 10 stars.
We enjoyed our stay to the fullest. 😁 Very clean and well groomed campsites and grounds! Showers and restrooms are kept very clean. Nice open area for the kiddos to play and be kids! The owners/staff are extremely helpful and friendly. I would strongly recommend this campground to all my friends and family! We will be back!
If you want a nice quiet clean campground with drive out access to the trails Rest ez is your place. IF you want to get loud and party all night its not going to end well for you, If you want to rip around the campgrounds roads and trails like they are racetrack, its not going to end well for you either. If you want clean bathrooms a very friendly owners that genuinely care this is the place for you. The camp store is reasonably priced and well stocked. Firewood was generous and reasonably priced. We will be back. -
