Reuter Campground Introduce

Reuter Campground is a hidden gem nestled in the rolling hills of Sundance, WY, offering a peaceful retreat for outdoor enthusiasts. Managed by the Forest Service, this charming campground provides 20 sites perfect for both tent campers and RVs, with some sites suitable for larger rigs. The campground features a mix of amenities and rustic charm, making it an ideal base for exploring the natural beauty of Wyoming.

One of the standout features of Reuter Campground is its proximity to popular attractions like Devils Tower and Sundance. Visitors can enjoy easy access to hiking trails, scenic views, and the serenity of nature while staying at this well-maintained campground. The site offers a mix of facilities, including fire pits with grates, picnic tables, and vault toilets that are noted for their cleanliness by visitors.

While there are no hookups or dump stations directly at Reuter Campground, the nearby Sundance rest area provides a convenient water fill station and dump facility. This setup works well for self-contained rigs and ensures that campers can easily manage waste disposal and water refills without traveling far from the campground.

RVs are accommodated with several large sites that can fit bigger rigs, though parking your tow car may require some maneuvering. The tight spaces at certain sites, such as site 4, challenge even the most experienced drivers but offer a unique camping experience for those who manage to fit in. Tent-only sites provide an equally charming and secluded option for nature lovers.

Reuter Campground is particularly praised for its natural beauty and tranquility. The towering pine trees, gentle winds, and quiet nights make it a perfect spot for relaxation. Visitors often highlight the peaceful sounds of wind through the pines and the ease of access to nearby trails as some of the standout features of their stay.

Customers appreciate the convenience of online reservations and the $2.00 pet fee per night, which is seen as a minor inconvenience compared to the overall camping experience. The availability of trash canisters and clean vault toilets further enhances the camping experience, ensuring that visitors have access to essential amenities without compromising on the natural setting.

Overall, Reuter Campground offers a unique blend of rustic charm and modern convenience, making it a favorite among campers who appreciate the beauty of Wyoming's outdoors. Whether you're exploring Devils Tower or enjoying the trails right from the campground, Reuter Campground provides a welcoming base for your adventures in the great outdoors.

Beautiful campground. No hookups or dump. There is a free dump and water station at the nearby rest area in Sundance. It would be tough to even fill up water here but there are sporadic spigots spaced around the campground. There are a few spots that bigger rigs could get into like 21, 7, and 4. I was in site 4 with a 40 foot Class A. It was tight. You can’t beat the beautiful trees and nice trails right from the campground. It is nice and quiet and you hear the sound of the wind through so the pines. Nice place to relax. The location to Sundance and the Devils Tower is great. You can reserve online. There is a $2.00 pet fee per night which is lame. Parking your tow car can be challenging. There are big vault toilets and plenty of trash canisters. Each site has a nice fire-pit with grate and picnic table.

Nice little Forest Service Campground with about 20 sites. All have a fire ring and picnic tables. About half are suitable for RVs the rest are tent only. Like many FS campgrounds there are no hookups, there are some of the cleanest vault toilets I have seen and there are several water spigots. There is a water fill and nice dump station at the Sundance rest area a few mile away.

This is a beautiful place. We stopped in here 2 nights to explore Devil's Tower and Sundance. The location is convenient to both. First, the pros. The sites are well spaced so you are not on top of you neighbors. There is a good bit of smaller wildlife if you are quiet and look for them. We did have cows come through our camp one afternoon. The road through the campground is well maintained and not difficult to tow through. The campground was not overly crowded. There were only two other camper's on the first come first served loop. The reserve spots were only half full even though most of the posts had tags on them. Where it fell short? Unfortunately the campsites are not very big rig friendly, probably not very little rig friendly either if you need a reasonably level site. We had a very difficult time leveling our 36ft fifth wheel because the gravel pad is humped in the middle so there was pretty much only one way you could put the rig in and we had to be off center in order to prevent the back slide from digging into the hillside. Many of the sites are too short for anything bigger than probably 20-25 ft and have a huge drop off that would be a pia for stairs without and additional step stool. There is an additional charge for each pet, which I would have been happy to pay if it meant that they cleaned up after the previous camper's dogs. But alas, hubby picked up six piles before we could let the kids and dogs play. The fire pit was also full of ashes and charred wood. Not that you could use them because of the current burn ban in the NFL, which many other camper's were ignoring. All in all, I don't regret the stay because of it's convenience. But I won't camp here again and would look elsewhere for better maintained sites, even if it costs a little more.

Nice site we stayed at to check out Grandmother's Tree (Devils Tower). Price is usually $22 a night, was $11 a night with the Access Pass.
