Customer Reviews
Sweet campground / nice feel. Plenty of spots on Sunday afternoon of Labor Day weekend. And only $15! Luckily no planes, so nice and quiet. But in the morning when the animal shelter that's located at the entrance opened, could hear barking dogs. Plenty of bathrooms / Porto potties. Great trees and spaces well spaced with lots of greenery between sites.
Very nice campground. Only $15 per night and less crowded than government campgrounds. Also a great sized area for each tent/ van. When you enter it says “campground closed” but don’t let that fool you from entering. There were many free spaces.
This place could get zero stars… We swung in about 10:30am Friday mid June 2024 looking for a spot to camp. Several sites open, so we thought, why not. Moments later military jets flew right over the tops of the trees. The sound was so deafening that our ears were ringing moments later. We left the area promptly! I had read about this problem by other visitors. Now I can verify the jet noise. If you stay here, bring the best hearing protection you can find!!!
It's currently almost midnight and the fighter jets have been blasting our eardums for hours. It's unbelievable how close to the trees they blast, some time they might start them on fire. It's very scary and very dangerous for our ears. Other than that I had a lovely night last night before we knew this was going to happen. The jets are really awful, I can't believe it's legal.
Great campsite that is easy to miss. Was recommended as an alternative to Fort Ebey when it was full. Most sites are spacious and all that I saw had a fire ring. Like all campsites on the south side of the island there is an advisory for the Navy jets training in the area at any given time of day. You can hear the road from the sites but the traffic wasn't too busy when I stayed. I'm definitely adding this to my list for sites to stop by on any return trip though.
