As a long time resident of NNJ, I have heard about this park but just never visited before. I finally made my way to Rifle Camp Park this weekend. To be honest, I've been to better parks. Some of the scenery was beautiful but it was lacking some impressive. The park only has two trails: red and yellow. The red was easier so if you're looking for more of a challenge, pick yellow. There were more inclines on yellow, rocky terrain, and more interesting scenery as well. I didn't see any maps available at the park to mark the trails but the access points are through each parking lot. The red trail did make a full loop around the park. A big plus is that majority of the hike is shaded. The park has a lot of construction ongoing so hopefully more improvements to come. Overall, I enjoyed my time here but would choose to go another park instead for more challenging hikes.

We recently stopped by Rifle Camp Park on our way to Bear Mountain, and let me tell you that it is a beautiful place to just enjoy your day off with your family or your friends, or just hike all by yourself, whichever you prefer.

First time checking it out. The yellow trail can be a bit challenging for some but meanders through the park, making you feel far away from everything.

Really nice family park with views of nyc. There’s good places to eat in the surrounding area. There’s a lot of tables, easy to have a picnic or eat lunch in the park. There’s a lot of ticks here though so be careful, I’ve found them on myself and my dogs.

Overall, a decent park..context: I lived in NY long enough to know what a great part looks like. This park is large with an assortment of trails which are in decent condition. Some mushy areas but overall a fun easy trail. The main water attraction or body is off limits technically since it seems to be part of the water supply to Passiac county. Saw some deer and an entire family (I think!) Which was cool. Nice views of NYC from top of RED trail and some nice spots to hang out on yellow trail back. Personally I walked on trail about halfway and hiked my way across to the other and went back. It was fun overall and worth it if you're you're within a 15-20 min drive. Otherwise, odds are, something local is equal or better. I had fun tho.
