It's important to clarify that the Rim Lakes Vista Observation Site (recgovnpsdata) itself is primarily an observation point and not a traditional campground where you would pitch a tent or park an RV overnight. Its primary "services" are related to providing an exceptional viewing experience.
Parking Area: The site features a convenient parking lot, making it easy for visitors to stop and access the viewpoint.
Scenic Overlooks: The main "service" is the provision of multiple, easily accessible overlooks that provide jaw-dropping, unobstructed views of the Mogollon Rim and the vast forest below. Some sections of the trail leading to these overlooks are paved for accessibility.
Interpretive Information: While not explicitly stated for this specific site, many Forest Service observation points provide interpretive panels or signage offering information about the geology, ecology, and history of the Mogollon Rim.
Restrooms: Reviews suggest that facilities, including restrooms (likely vault toilets), are available at or very near the observation site or within close proximity at nearby campgrounds like Mogollon Campground or Rim Campground, which are directly accessible from the Rim Lakes Vista Trail.
Picnic Areas: While the observation site itself is focused on views, there are typically picnic areas nearby along Rim Road or at adjacent campgrounds, providing spots for a meal with a view.
Trail Access: The site serves as a trailhead or access point for the Rim Lakes Vista Hiking Trail, which allows visitors to extend their experience beyond just the immediate overlook.
For actual camping, visitors would utilize one of the many developed or dispersed campgrounds located in the Rim Lakes Recreation Area, which are just a short drive away from the observation site.

The sheer distance visible across the forest is often highlighted by visitors as truly remarkable.
Dramatic Geological Formations: The site provides a unique opportunity to appreciate the immense scale of the Mogollon Rim, which marks the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau. Seeing how high you are above the already tall pine trees below is a common observation that emphasizes the sheer drop.
Photographic Opportunities: For photographers and nature enthusiasts, the overlooks provide ideal spots to capture stunning landscape photos, especially during sunrise and sunset when the light casts a magical glow over the scenery.
Easy Accessibility: The main vista point is easily accessible from the parking lot, with some paved sections leading to overlooks. This ensures that visitors of all mobility levels can enjoy the views without extensive hiking.

This is one of the best vista sites out of all the numerous ones for the Mongollon Rim. For this review though, I'll just focus on the actual vista point by the parking lot. You are so high up on the sheer cliff that plunges into the sea of dark green pines. What blows me away is just seeing how far I am from the tops of the already super tall pine trees. Also, it's amazing too to see the speck of the road so small from this viewpoint. Just beautiful!
Very nice and relaxing view of the Payson forest.
Beautiful ...breath taking view!
Great view, very short hop jump and skip away from the road
Beautiful view!!
