This campground is celebrated for its serene atmosphere, pristine facilities, and prime location along the river that feeds the Great Salt Plains Lake. It stands as a peaceful haven, perfect for families, anglers, and anyone looking to unwind amidst one of Oklahoma’s most distinctive landscapes.

River Road Campground is lauded by visitors for being **"very peaceful and relaxing,"** offering a quiet escape from the bustle of city life. The facilities here are modern and well-maintained, indicating a strong commitment to guest comfort. It is important for local users to note the reservation process, as mentioned by guests. While the park itself is "almost empty" at times, the **online reservation system (ReserveAmerica/Oklahoma State Parks)** can sometimes imply no vacancy, especially for last-minute bookings, due to connectivity issues in the area (cell service can be **"sketchy"**). Visitors are advised to plan ahead and, if necessary, seek assistance from the kind park host upon arrival, who can often help secure a spot.

My family and I loved it here!! It was very peaceful and relaxing! There is a park right down the hill from where our campsite was and there were bathrooms, running water and electric outlets. To shower we had to use the RV comfort station which was clean and air-conditioned. The beach was beautiful and the water was warm but it doesn't get very deep and you kinda sink in the silt.

Clean and level sites with stable 20/30/50 amp power and water connections. There’s an RV Dump with a drop in opening. The restrooms were clean and the shower house had great pressure and hot water. The location is quiet and can accommodate big rigs. It has ample parking and plenty of places to hike. The campground is very nice but trying to determine what sites were available was tedious. Reserveamerica implied no vacancy (even for just that night) yet the park was almost empty. Checked in with the host who helped us find a spot for 4 days. NOTE : The online reservation system requires internet connection and cellular there is sketchy. We had to use our StarLink to view which sites were not reserved and to make our transaction.

Multiple entrances make finding your site a little challenging, but people in this area are very helpful. Gorgeous tent sites close to spillway! RV sites are nice and most have a beautiful view! If you're a fisherman, you've found Heaven! Watch heron catch their dinner and carp swim up stream! The only neg here is between 9 am & 5 pm there's constant noise from aircraft flying over. There is, however, good cell and internet reception. Beautiful place for a getaway!
