Customer Reviews
We had a blast floating down the river. It was peaceful, quiet and perfect amount of time. Took us 2 hrs to float down. But depending on the speed of the river- could be a quicker float. The parking, checking in, purchasing the tubes, high quality tubes, we had a cooler attached and a very nice driver at the end to bring us back. Overall such a fun summer day in WI! This place is amazing!
I really enjoyed my tubing experience at River's Edge Apple River Tubing. They offer tube rentals along with ropes to tie the tubes together, and you can also rent a separate tube with a basket in between for carrying your food. The cost was $20 per person, and with the extra tube for the basket and the rope, it totaled $25 per person. The experience was a lot of fun, though it was a bit short—about an hour long. One thing to keep in mind is that glass containers are not allowed on the river, so plan accordingly. Overall, I definitely recommend this if you're looking for a low-key, fun activity to enjoy with friends.
I always make an effort to make it out here at least once every summer! It’s a great place and the shuttle service is an added bonus. There are plenty of spots along the river to pull off to along with picnic tables. The ropes they give out aren’t that durable so I recommend getting extra. They also have the option to get a tube for your cooler.
River’s Edge has some great and friendly staff, it is well maintained, and it’s always a blast going down the Apple River! My only suggestions, it would be nice if they had a rewards program for frequent tubers, or a free tubing trip when you go camping instead of just a discount. Also, I hope at some point they will extend the exit area to the original location, after the rapids. Not sure if the bridge going over the river was rebuilt but as long as people know the risks they should have the option to go down that section.
Ok, so here's how this went down. 86 and sunny late in the season (mid September) and we think hey! What a great way to spend the afternoon tubing down Apple River, check the website and it says they're open so away we go from just south of the cities. Get to the place and wouldn't you know, it's closed. We decide to pull in because it looks like someone is walking around. There we meet one of the employees that informs us the site hasn't been updated. We talk about the history of AR and how it has gotten a bit of a bad rep over the years. I used to come to the river back in the 90s and early 2000s and remember SO MUCH debauchery! Drinking, drugging, nudity! NOT a place for kids or families for sure! As with all of us, time changes everything. He lets us know that while the river does still have some people that can get "dumb" the river is nothing like it was back then! This was one of the kindest and most helpful people I've ever met! Knowing how far we drive and what he had available, he called another of the employees and set us up to still go tubing anyway! Over the years I have personally made it a point NOT to go to this location because of what I had seen (and somewhat regrettably participated in). Even recently this year, many cringed at the mere mention of "Apple River Tubing". After talking with the staff and seeing the passion they have for creating a safe and fun atmosphere for all, I will go nowhere else. If for no other reason but to bring others! This my friends is a perfect example of how we can all change. Apple River tubing has had a bad reputation for years, let's change that, let's go take part in the wonderful experience that this can be! I'm not saying we all have to be saints or something, but if you're going to partake in things that damage this rep, no judgement but please, please keep in mind what that does to the overall. I will be back, I will bring reinforcements, I will help to this bring this 60 year community business back to the glory of fun, safe family entertainment! Please join me in 2025 (after the season opens) to make this happen!
We had a fun time going down and the shuttle driver was really fun to chat with. I recommend signage that tells people not to stop and stand/ block the river right before the first bridge because we almost drowned. My friend and I had a group in front of us of about 10 all tied together. We started off in the slow area and then there is a short island that splits the river. The river comes back together right before the first bridge, and the current there is STRONG. The group stopped right in front of the bridge and we waiting for about 15 minutes before standing out of our tubes to go around them because a bunch of people were waiting behind us. Where the rivers meet back up, the current swept us under the bridge and it drops off about 8+ feet and sucked us right under the water. There isn't a good spot to get to land because it's surrounded by steep inclines. Thankfully we were able to hold onto the rope on our tube to try to get far enough ahead to touch again. I think there should be warnings alerting people to be in their tubes before it reaches that point. Otherwise, the float was nice, the staff were great, and the people on the river were good.
